This listing is for a high quality ceramic/porcelain lamp  holder ES 27 (Edison Screw 27mm) ceramic lamp holder suitable for the following:

  • Ceramic heaters/emitters
  • Metal halide lamps
  • Heat/reflector/spot lamps
  • Incandescent (normal bulbs)
  • Discharge lamps
  • LED lamps with es fitting
  • Energy saver bulbs

Very high quality lamp holder rated to 1,000 watts 4 amps and 5,000 volts impulse voltage (many on ebay are only rated to 250w or 500w!).

These lamp holders feature spring under central contact to provide maximum power/current transfer and reduce jamming of bulb in holder, beware of cheap ones on ebay that use thin piece of bent metal!.

Easy to fit using two screws (not supplied) through holes in base of lamp holder

Ceramic lamp holders are ideal for use with high powered lamps 100 watts or more (suggested for 80 watts also) and essential if using ceramic heat lamps and emitters. These lamp holders are specially made to withstand the high temperatures generated by heat basking/discharge lamps, normal lamp holders can start to become brittle and discolour if used with high wattage (and medium) heat lamps.

If you are using high wattage heat or spot lamps i recommend using heat resistant cable as standard cable insulation can overheat and become brittle as it is not designed to withstand high temperatures which can be generated by heat lamps in some vivariums.
