Also known as a wine fridge or wine cellar, this product is ideal for both homes and businesses. With many modern properties not having a designated cellar, wine storage is often a simple rack, or the fridge. However, the optimum temperature to store wine is not room temperature, nor 5C as in a fridge. White wine should be stored at between 10C and 12C, and red wine at about 15C. With the modern taste for good quality wine, a specifically designed wine cooler is both a practical storage unit and can also be a modern design feature in any property.

Our range of wine coolers are so simple to use and are either compressor or thermoelectric based. The thermoelectric coolers are quieter and use less power with no CFC refrigerants, whilst the more conventional compressor-based coolers generally reach lower temperatures. If you simply want to place your unit on a worktop or in an open area, a "free-standing" unit is perfect. These have ventilation at the back and/or sides of the unit, meaning they operate effectively when set away from walls and other surfaces. Setting them in alcoves, kitchen units or cupboards is not a good idea as they will not be able to circulate fresh air effectively, losing cooling efficiency and having potential to damage the unit.

If you want to install your cooler in a kitchen unit, cupboard or enclosed area then you need a "built-in" cooler. These have ventilation at the front, meaning they can be set into an enclosed area and as long as there is nothing blocking the front grille such as a skirting board or cupboard door they will operate effectively.

The majority of the coolers we sell are based on thermoelectric technology. The only moving parts in a thermoelectric cooler are the fans, so these units benefit from lower power consumption, less vibration, no CFCs and of course they never need regassing. Compressor based coolers on the other hand offer greater outright cooling ability and so you'll generally find these in our larger units or those built to cool a wider range of beverages.

When all is said and done, the question should not be "Compressor or Thermoelectric?" but rather "What type of drinks do I want to cool?".
