60'S TEAK AFRORMOSIA SIDEBOARD BY JOHN HERBERT FOR YOUNGER VINTAGE RETRO DANISH

Here we have a beautiful example of iconic British Mid 20th Century furniture design.

This sideboard was designed by the noted furniture designer John Herbert for A Younger Ltd who were a boundary pushing British furniture manufacturer and are held in high esteem today by fans of 1960's design.

This piece is very pleasing on the eye and has a very simplistic form with attention paid to every single detail.

This sideboard is a less common design and what makes this example especially nice is the utterly wild grain detailing on the timbers used to finish the rear of it. Perfect if you would like to use this piece in an open plan interior or as a room divider at any point.

One piece of timber has been used for finishing the legs and body on each side of this piece, a process which keeps the style organic and minimal. This sort of attention to detail is synonymous with Younger furniture.

This piece has a very charming aesthetic which is helped along by its completely symmetrical design. Nothing appears out of place and great consideration has been paid to the positioning of those solid timber drawer handles and lovely 'button' door pulls.

Of particular note with this design is its simple outline and linear style which mirrors 1960's architectural trends - these pieces were designed to take pride of place in the most cutting edge interiors.

The combination of solid timbers and exotic veneers on this piece is pleasing and the materials used are of a high quality retaining their vibrant colouring. Internally this particular example is finished beautifully and has some great grain detailing.

Condition wise we can't fault this piece. It has been gently hand stripped and refinished by ourselves. We have taken the time to learn how to do this and working on this piece has been a labour of love! As shown in our close up images there are a few tiny indentations and signs of previous use here and there as one would expect of any vintage piece. The only point to note is a very old repair to the corner of one of the drawer handles. This is sturdy, reasonably discrete and shown in our close up images as it is only noticed upon closer inspection. There is nothing at all which detracts from the investment value of this piece. Our images are an accurate reflection of the top notch condition of this sideboard.
