ALEXANDER the GREAT Greece MACEDONIA Persia FOLIO SOCIETY Robin Lane Fox ANCIENT
VERY GOOD CONDITION
This sale is for a large size quality hardback FOLIO SOCIETY EDITION entitled “Alexander The Great,” by Robin Lane Fox,
with 24 photographic illustrations, mostly in COLOUR and 8 maps drawn by Reginald Piggott.
It was published by The Folio Society, of
Alexander the Great (356 BC-323 BC), was an ancient Greek king of Macedon (336–323 BC), was one of the most successful
military commanders in history, and was undefeated in battle. By the time of his death in 323 BC, he had conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks.
Even after 2000 years no career has been so disputed or spectacular as that of Alexander the Great. Robin Lane Fox’s study of
Alexander is the fullest ever attempted. He makes use of Persian and Indian evidence combined with the widely
scattered remains of the original Greek histories in a search which sets his hero against the beliefs and skills of his own age.
The maps are:
· Alexander’s Route
· Alexander’s Route Through Asia Minor and the Approach to the Battle of Issus
· Alexander’s Route, September 330-326 BC
· North-West Frontier 327-326 BC
· The Siege of Pir-Sar
· Alexander’s Route to the Hydaspes
It measures 10 inches x 6.5 inches x 1.75 inches and has 588 pages + illustrations.
The book is in very good clean and neat condition. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages.
There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book.
