We sell antique and vintage furniture dating from all eras including pre Georgian, Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Edwardian, mid 20th century and occasionally contemporary. The pieces of furniture have been loved and used, sometimes for more than 200 years. Each one has a record of its long life marked out on it in the form of marks, scuffs, scratches, shrinkage, splits, tarnish, historic restoration, flexible joints, old worm holes, uneven and chipped veneer, stains and dust. This wear and tear through normal daily use is what gives each piece its unique appearance, its character, its patina its individual beauty and is what makes each piece an unrepeatable one off piece of antique furniture.
To this end we take great care to describe each piece of furniture fully and accurately and take many large clear photos from all angles. All photos are taken in natural daylight - no studio or artificial lighting. If there any flaws;beyond normal signs of age we make sure they are photographed and brought to your attention so that you know exactly what you are buying and there are no surprises when your piece is delivered.
Most of our furniture is in good clean condition ready to use on arrival. Chairs and sofas ready to be sat on, bureaux and bookcases to be filled with possessions and tables to be eaten off.
Occasionally we find an eye catching piece with beautiful wood or a pleasing shape that is in need of tlc, or even complete restoration by a professional antique restorer, in order to be returned to its former glory. If this is the case it will be clearly stated in the description and sold as a restoration, re-upholstery project.
