ANTIQUE WEDDING DRESS - part of a large collection of wedding gowns, veils, head tiaras, bags, shoes and stoles listed on eBay this week.
Exquisite ethereal white silk, lace and muslin wedding dress
dating from the turn of the last century.
This beautiful light floaty dress has a boat neck trimmed in frothy, white, gathered, scalloped lace that travels all the way around the deep "V" back down to the waist. The fastenings are concealed beneath it. The mannequin is just slightly too big to be able to fasten the dress around it.
The three quarter sleeves formed with a double layer of floaty muslin bell petals through which the tight under bodice can be glimpsed. The bodice is fitted with an under bodice in tight cotton and a muslin over bodice as a light airy froth layer. The bodice narrows into a plain waist from which flares a gathered skirt. The skirt is made from two parts. The under skirt is beautiful oyster white silk gathered tightly to make a full skirt. The over skirt is gathered white muslin which swirls out to a generous sweeping hem that will swirl out.
The condition of this dress is excellent for a dress that is over 100 years old. I can find no marks or stains to the fabric and just two loose stitched seams. The first is in the overskirt at the back at the waist where it fastens and the second is on the waist at the front. There are close up magnified photos of both. These would be very easy for a seamstress to correct while altering the dress for a perfect fit.
Stunning frothy, white, floaty, light, airy, muslin, silk and lace dress.
AGE circa 1890
SIZING & MEASUREMENTS
Most of the vintage clothes have no size markings and have been custom made to fit an individual. The measurements do not correspond to today's modern sizes. I can give a rough indication of whether a garment is small (6,8,10), medium (10,12,14) or large (16 , 18, 20 plus+). We all know that human bodies vary so the best way of ensuring a good fit is to study the measurements carefully and compare them to our own clothes at home using a flexible tape measure.
I measure by lying the garment out flat and measuring seam to seam. I will measure the narrowest point, cuffs, waist, the widest point, bust, hips and am as accurate as possible. There may be minor variations of 1/2" due to the way different people will flatten out a garment to measure it.
This dress is small and the actual measurements are as follows:
neck seam to hem 50"
hem sweep 136"
arm upper seam 9"
arm lower seam 8"
cuff at narrowest point 9"
shoulders seam to seam 15"
CONDITION excellent vintage condition - please read description for full details
Please note that colours may vary from monitor to monitor.

POSTAGE & PACKAGING
All Items are wrapped carefully in protective acid free tissue paper and protective layers as necessary before being sent in mail sacks.
