ANTORIA LES PAUL CUSTOM
Same build as the classic Ibanez Japanese guitars from the FujiGen Gakki factory, these were rebadged for the UK market, but in all aspects are identical to the Ibanez guitars of the same era. Finding a vintage Antoria this good is rare!
OPEN BOOK HEADSTOCK AND DIAMOND INLAY AS PER ALL GIBSON CUSTOMS.
Rare zebra coil humbucking pick ups (we are not sure if these are original/genuine with the guitar, but do they look superb or what?!) They sound killer.
Knobs and selector switch are replacements from original black ones- as this guitar was clearly modelled on Brain Robertson's classic Les Paul from Thin Lizzy - (except those zebra pick ups! of course)
Bolt on neck and rosewood finger board with proper inlays
Machine heads are not original
please note: pickups are stamped underneath with the numbers 25220 ON BOTH...
Our thoughts on this guitar:
We have been told this could be a 1973-1975 model, as there is no serial number (as all pre 76 models) It is hard to date it exactly.
The guitar plays fantastic, the action is quite amazing, and as low as any Les Paul we have had before. It really is a cracking guitar that sounds, looks and feels like a real Paul, bar the bolt on neck design and the pressed wood top, its spookily similar..We recorded with this on a few 'Glam Rock' sessions last year, and it has such an authentic vintage sound that stood up to our 70s Gibson guitar we used on the recordings too..The pick ups really chuck out the sound..as good as you would hope for... alone, we feel these pick ups are worth least £100 for the pair!!
Plenty of life in the frets, and there is no wear to the fingerboard of any note
The usual little dings on the back and neck and edges, as you would expect from these vintage guitars- real mojo! This is not a MINT museum guitar beware..it is a players guitar that has stood the test of time in superior fashion.
The back of the headstock we think has been resprayed at some point, and there are the screw holes that confirm the original machine heads were taken off in favour of these ones pictured.
Original frets, bridge, tail piece, screws, pins, and knob pointers
The body is definately not resprayed and stays original ebony ..
There is even the original 'SOUND PAD' store sticker on the back by the neck plate confirming this guitar was brought into the UK to a store in leicester.. so the full history of its origin is here to see
Concluding: these guitars ar soaring in value..and like we said when they play this good its clear to see why..We feel they are way way superior to the Columbus, Shaftesbury, Avon, CSL etc models that claim to be as good..they are not in the same league as this one. This is in every aspect, is the same as an Ibanez model. We have several Ibanez in our collection and side by side- you canot tell the difference!
We are happy to take offers on her, and we can courier it for £20.00 UK - You are also welcome to pick her up..(We are in West Sussex) there is no case with this guitar but it will be well packed in a guitar box for transportation.
