TITLE.  "SHIRE HORSES LOGGING"

DESCRIPTION.A  stunning large  oil on canvas by British Nottinghamshire  artist Arthur Spooner who was a Nottinghamsshire based artist. He was a noted rustic landscape painter and he specialised in these sort  Nottingham landscape scenes this one portraying a logging team of shire horese in a forest of dappled sunlight.  Very polished and in excellent gallery condition. It is  a very good painting painted in an impressionist early 20th century pallete.

He is a well collected artist whose works are often on display at Galleries who exhibit at the art fairs. This is a lovely example of his work in completely original condition - a good size and signed. 

In 2004 a work by Spooner sold for over £200K at Christies

This is one of the best we have sen by this artist.

Large oil on canvas.  Image size  91cm by 65 cm and in galleryclean excellent condition. Painting has not been relined.


FRAME.
Galley frame 102 cm by80cm and in excellent gallery condition

BIOGRAPHY.

Arthur Spooner (1873–1962) was a British painter from Nottingham, England.[1][2]

Spooner was born in Nottingham and trained at the Nottingham School of Art (now part of Nottingham Trent University) in the late 19th century. He later taught landscape and figurative painting there in the early 20th century.[3]

Arthur Spooner was a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists.[4] He painted The Goose Fair, Nottingham in 1926.[5][3] The painting was sold at Christie's in 2004[6] and is displayed in Nottingham Castle
