|Seller notes:||“Almost New , had to use it for about a week (in a smoke free home) , and had to use the right side nearest usb port about 12 times to upgrade the bios and install Lubuntu 13.10 . I dont even want to try adding the extra 1gb stick , i'm not good enough for that -the youtube videos make it look impossible, i'll leave all that to the winner. the battery is totally dead though. Ive been the only owner and i only used it for a week (about 3 days when i bought it new, and about 4 days recently to get it up to date).”|

For Sale: Acer Aspire One AOA150 L with 512mb ram , 120gb hard drive, 0.3 / 1.3 (?) megapixel webcam , 8.9 inch screen, 1.6ghz intel atom n270 etc in almost brand new condition bnib.
description: Acer Aspire One AOA150 L with 512mb ram , 120gb hard drive, 0.3 / 1.3 (?) megapixel webcam , 8.9 inch screen, 1.6ghz intel atom n270 etc . i used it for about 1 week in total (about 3 days when i first got it ages ago , and about 4 days recently making it up to date), in very very good condition apart from the battery being totally dead now,due to how batteries die over time whether theyre used or not, comes with 512mb ram inbuilt soldered to the motherboard, but also comes with an extra new boxed 1gb stick of corsair ddr2 800mhz ram that seems impossible to fit looking at the youtube videos, i'm nowhere near good enough to fit it, , if you are would make the max of 1.5gb . Also come with an extra new neoprene sleeve coz i didnt want to spoil the one it comes with, a new sealed 8gb sandisk cruzer usb drive, a new unused netbook sized laptop skin sticker to stop the lid getting scratched (you may need to cut this to size). used only slightly in a smoke free home.
i updated the bios to .3310 which i think was the last bios to this model, this aparantly fixes a number of issues (mainly with the screen brightness) .
i also put lubuntu 13.10 on it, i didnt partition the drive exactly how i wanted due to the wierd slider on the install screen. basically i wanted a GPT boot record , one gib of blank space , a ginormous bootable chuck of 100+ gib EXT4 space for the OS and more, 2 gib linux swap file, one more gib of blank space.
i didnt do exactly that, but its near enough, i had to use gparted to correct a booting issue [it (lubuntu) had originally made its own small extra booting partition instead of marking the boot flag on the 100gib partition, i corrected this and turned the boot flag on on the main partition, it is the normal correct way the way i set it up, but the partition(s) arent exactly round numbers now) .
i left unetbootin and the lubuntu iso somewhere on the hard disk, just incase. ChromiumOS also works on this too , i read, so i suppose you could put that on, but the default browser is chromium, and linux and the chromium browser can do what chromiumOS can do and more, so it seemed more better setting it up this way...
it generally seems ok, i've not used it enough for discovery of any major issues. i read that the speakers need altering so the 1hz(?) sounds are muted , dont know why. and i couldnt figure out how to do that coz i didnt know where the graphic equalizer is.
the screen seems good. the hard drive doesnt have any issues (ie, it passes the linux diagnostic tests on whatever that program is called). the keyboard is very good, the touchpad and buttons are very good, its a smooth pad rather than a matte rough one, the buttons are on either side rather than directly underneath. as i said i only used it for about a week, the right near side usb port got used about 12 times while i was updating the bios and reloading the Lubuntu with a brand new usb drive. the other usb ports and both memory card sockets and ethernet port and 3.5mm sockets have never been used. I also avoided updating the lubuntu 'software and drivers' as i'm wary that this'll stop the wifi from working (i've seen this happen before, and my router is not in a good position for a LAN cable) and i couldnt figure out how to fix it and reload the original drivers. so i'll leave it "unpatched", for now. the wifi is currently working, tho.
Comes with everything complete (mains charger , battery ,discs, etc) with box and instructions and the previously mentioned extras like the extra ram and usb drive and sleeve. stored and used slightly in a smoke free house. in excellent condition for something that is 3-4 years old. i'd say its been 'on' for between say 30 and 60 hours max. most of that was recently while i was setting it up.
1. the laptop (kinda almost new , used for about 60 hours max)
2. its dead battery (maybe a clever person can coax this back to life) if not you might have to buy a new one. works from the mains and the battery 'covers' various prongs, so its best left in.
3. a new unopened sandisk 8gb usb2 thumb drive
4. the bundled acer sleeve unused unopened
5. the mains charger adapter (used slightly but still wrapped up uncoiled, only ever plugged in once)
6. the proper box and instructions and discs (didnt open or use any of these, i just loaded lubuntu on instead)
7. the extra 1GB ddr2 corsair ram NEW boxed (i cannot fit this, involves taking the entire laptop to pieces)
8. the asda mibeat strand branded neoprene foldover sleeve (i accidently stood on this before i opened it, and it has a crease down the middle now, if i can get a new one in time i will , otherwise i'll send this creased one, was only cheap anyway, its black and red)
9. the cardboard packing carton that goes over the proper box
10. this new unused laptop lid skin sticker to stop the lid getting scratched.
maybe i've forgot something small from the list, but its either mentioned above, or already in the box ready for sending out.
i think i remembered it , but, i currently dont have a dvd writer, But maybe sometime later , i'll get a dvdr together with things that could be useful. (cant think what it was now. but it was things like pdfs of the manuals, and other stuff thats not really on the internet anymore, its stuff mainly cribbed from the old acer macles blogspot website that i didnt want to delete incase it was useful), i'll just send this later (by later i mean after christmas) . all the stuff above i'll send out straight away. the bios is up to date and the OS is current , so that's the main thing, this dvdr is more of a 'this might come in handy' thing ...
you can ask questions about the auction, i dont mind any questions about it (the laptop, whatever) . i think i've got the make offers option available.
Postage: I will post to the UK only , Postage will be FREE . (i did it like this to make it simpler for bidders) . i normally post second class recorded so please be patient (usually you should have it within 7-9 days) ... to be honest i'll probably have to send this next day special delivery due to the weight and value.
Payment: I can only accept Paypal (i dont surcharge for paypal).
Picture: Is a real photo, finally i found a cameraphone , i'd rather use a stock photo mainly coz i'm rubbish at taking photos and a stock one will show it best, But bidders obviously disagree , so i borrowed a phone and took one of it on my desk. like i said its almost brand new. its the blue version of the netbook. everything is included , box , mains adapter, discs, books, etc. there are absolutely no marks on it, its maybe got slightly dusty with it being on my desk all week, but i can wipe that off, but it looks really new and i am really really terrible at taking photos. and that i updated the bios straight away should avoid any 'my laptop wont X anymore' issues, that you read about that bios updates always fix. I took a real photo - and in it , you carnt tell, but its showing wikipedia's page for 'computer' in the chromium browser.. the pictures terrible, i took it at night with the lights on, but there was no flash on my phone. and it looks all glare-y sorry. It looks miles better in real life, the screen is not blurry in real life..
Thank You !!
