Apologies to those of you who were either bidding on or 'watching' this dress last week! I had to end the listing due to a change in the condition. I could not just change the original listing's description since there were bids on it; I could add to the description, but any addition would have been placed right at the bottom of the text and consquently will probably have been missed by most people!
So I'm relisting it this week, adding the change right at the top so no one can miss it!
I went to weigh this dress to quote an overseas buyer for postage, and as I did so I noticed, although apparently fastened to the top, the zip was open  for a couple of inches below the zip tab, so I opened the zip fully, and then I found I couldn't fasten it again, the tab seems to have stuck. So I now have to say the zip needs replacing altogether; whereas before it was just missing the pull, but did work. I'm sooo sorry about that!

Yikes, I'm actually selling a couple of my treasured Horrockses dresses! This one is made from a thick heavy textured white cotton with a cute blue floral and paisley print. It has a dart-fitted bodice with a square neckline; and a full, gathered skirt with patch pockets. Contrast fabric trims the Empire line, which is trimmed with a bow at the centre back. I love the contrast border detail to the skirt hem. Fastens with a centre back metal zip.

Measurements - don't forget to leave a little room for comfort and ease of movement!

Bust 36"
Waist 28"
Centre Back Bodice Length 11"
Back Bodice Length from Top of Shoulder Strap 15.5"
Skirt Length 25.5"

I would say this would fit a UK size 10 (or small 12) best, but PLEASE make sure you know your own measurements, and go by those instead of my size guide! I've noticed here on the eBay vintage pages that there seems to be a vastly differing opinion with sizes!!!! And this is just my guesstimate.

This dress needs a little TLC.
Firstly, the zip, missing its pull tab, is stuck open at the bottom. I don't seem to be able to wiggle it up anymore, as I used to be able to do, so the zip will need to be replaced.
It has been taken out/enlarged at the centre back - you can see faint old stitch lines, and the back neckline is a little uneven now.
It looks as though somebody has also tried to make the armholes a little larger too, by unpicking the bodice side seams at the armpit for an inch or so.
Though, for once, I see no discolouration. The white of this dress is surprising bright!

I do not accept returns. Please make sure you have read the description carefully, especially the condition and measurements part (and please make sure you know you own personal measurements), so you know what you are getting, and if you need to know anything else please ask.

Please take a look at my other vintage auctions, all starting at 99p. Postage gladly combined. Depending on the weight, I could probably send 2 dresses for £5 within the UK.

YES, I will consider BUY IT NOW prices! Just send me an email with the items you're interested in, and how much you were thinking of, and I'll consider it! But please don't be offended if I say no, or counter offer :)

I do not send out anything without a tracking number, this makes overseas postage quite expensive, I'm sorry. Overseas buyers, I will combine postage, but I need to know which dresses you're interested in and your location before I can give you a shipping quote for more than one item.

I sometimes use petticoats to show the fullness of skirts, and these are not included in the sale.

I do not accept returns. Please make sure you have read the description carefully, especially the condition and measurements part (and please make sure you know you own personal measurements), so you know what you are getting, and if you need to know anything else please ask.

If you do happen to be unhappy when you receive something, please contact me before leaving feedback and let's try to resolve the problem amicably between ourselves without resorting to damaging feedback.

Within the UK I can accept payments by PayPal, cheque, or postal order.

Buyers from outside the UK, I can only accept PayPal.

Buyers outside of Europe, please do be aware of your own country's tax/custom rules, and know that these are not included in the price you pay me, and may possibly have to be paid before delivery of your item.

About me....

My name is Tessa, I'm 32, and I've been wearing and collecting vintage clothing for well over a decade. I started wearing 1960s and 70s stuff, but very some came to realise that I favoured the 'New Look' silhouette of the late 1940s, into the 1950s. I believe this style suits my odd (by odd, I mean does not conform to modern day standards) figure better too - I have soooo much trouble buying modern clothing!
I have a huge collection dresses and skirts from late 1940s into the early 60s, in fact I have a whole room dedicated to my collection! I mainly concentrate on 1950s novelty printed cotton dresses and skirts, and Horrockses Fashions dresses - of which I may have one of the largest collections at 122.
You'll notice that this is also mainly what I sell (apart from the Horrockses, which I very rarely let go of). If you're anything like me your vintage collection is constantly evolving and changing; you have some things you know you'll keep forever, some you keep for 6 months or year and get bored of them, or just decide they're not right for you afterall, or some you realise instantly after trying on that they're not right for you despite how much you love them! So the vast majority of items I sell have been bought for myself originally, but I've decided aren't right for me for one reason or another. And there's usually a large range of sizes because I'm a bit of a yoyo dieter! In the last 18 months, this is terrible to admit, but I've been every waist size between 23 and 31 inches! Yikes!
I also have an Etsy shop:
It's quite sad to say it, but vintage is pretty much my life - I live and breathe it, and am constantly surrounded by it!
