You are bidding on a unique Alembic Custom Essence Macassar Ebony 5 string bass guitar. I’m hoping the photos do this bass some justice, but this is an awesomely crafted piece of kit. I’ve owned 30 or so basses over the last few years, (Status, MM, G&L, Fender etc.) and none sound or play like this - it is solid, reliable, has a sweet tone ranging from a great traditional ‘wood’ sound to that Alembic ‘Q’ sound. The low B is the sweetest resonance I’ve heard unlike any of the other basses I’ve owned and still own - This actually has a distinguishable resonance on the B string when fretted which the others simply don’t i.e. a defined note. Unfortunately I have to downsize my collection, and I don’t use this one any more so, as much as I like it, it’s time to go :(
The serial number is 06C13695USA, and year of manufacture I believe is 1995.
The only known defect on this is the crack in the plastic cover for the LEDs which you may see in the photos* I’ve tried to source a replacement with no luck, and seeing as it affects nothing in day to easy use apart from battery replacement, I’ve left it and bonded the two bits together
The rest of the bass is highly lacquered as you can see in the photos with a stunning finish on the wood, the crafting and the finish throughout. The wood is Macassar Ebony, with accent wood being Maple and Purple Heart. The body wood is Ash, the neck is Maple with Purple Heart with an Ebony Fretboard.
The LEDs - These are the far superior Europa LEDs fitted to the side only (i.e. not on the fretboard face) as you can see in the photos. These are switchable on/off, and give a constant red dot - as oppose to the shimmer or flicker you get from SIMs LEDs (I have fitted on my Status and they are nowhere near as good). This option is in the region of £1000 to fit….Just saying….
The controls are as follows:
Pick up bland
Bass Boost/flat/cut (three way switch)
Treble Boost/flat/cut (three way switch)
Q Filter cct - select switch and pot
This will be sold c/w hard case. I prefer a local pick up, but courier can be arranged UK or Worldwide as arranged with me prior to posting and paid for by buyer.
I will not p/x, and I will not disclose the reserve price on here as that figure is purely to safeguard me as oppose to reflect the true value of this.
If you can find another Alembic like this in this condition, then good luck
My location is Weymouth, Dorset.
Good luck and happy bidding.
