ALIENS- Original release 1986. Director's Cut: 2004. Seven years after surviving the disastrous encounter with "the alien", Ripley is stripped of her flight status and broken after a superficial inquiry into the loss of the Nostromo. That is of course until the Company needed her again. Shortly thereafter, contact was lost with the colony on LV-426 where the Nostromo crew's original encounter with "the Alien". Ripley is recruited to accompany a platoon of "Colonial Marines" to LV-426 as an adviser. The Colonial Marines are a cocky bunch- tough and self-assured. They thought that they were ready for anything. This movie features an exceptional cast: Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Michael Biehn (Hicks), Lance Henriksen (Bishop), Paul Reiser (Carter Burke), Bill Paxton (Hudson), Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez). This movie comes in two versions: the original (1986) and the Director's cut (2004). I strongly suggest the Director's cut as it contains scenes that were cut from the original theatrical release but add a great deal to the story-line and continuity of the film. Classic of Action-Adventure and Sci-Fi. Winner of 2 Oscars(out of 21 nominations), 1987 top box office and 21 other awards.Read full review
About the only sequel in history that stands up to the original. This is a great sci-fi flick that develops its characters and doesn't over-simplify the sublimities of dialogue-based hyperbol. Rather, through a series of delicately poised, yet fanciful, incongruities, it enables surface-fracture to replace the all-too-used mundaneness of revered inter-personal corporation-fatigue. Furthermore, with the onset of the all-too-apparent socio-political madness, lurking ever-present beneath a surface beset with lingering blisters of self-doubt, this film emerges succinct, yet somehow innocent, into the delicate light of a new way of thinking, feeling, and being; but, more importantly, a new way of understanding the complex diversities of devolution, not just the obvious. Nice one.
ONE OF THE FEW FILMS WHERE THE SECOND FILM IS BETTR THAN THE ORIGINAL GOOD CLASSIC MOVIE THE BEST IN THE SERIES JUST HOPE PROMETHEUS WILL BE GOOD ASWELL
A master piece, I specially like the atmosphere created inside and the shear amount of aliens. Another excellent Aliens movie, and my favourite one as well.
