Hi and welcome to this listing for my Alnicomagnet "MORE TERROR" mod kit for the Orange Tiny Terror head or combo.
This kit is suitable for all territories and mains voltages.
This listing is for my latest kit (V1.4 updated August 2014)
kit is designed to bridge the gap in sonic performance between the standard
Tiny Terror and the Hard Wired edition.
standard Orange Tiny Terror is an “OK” sounding amp straight out of the box, if a little "boxy" and "nasal" sounding. After exhaustive listening tests and A-B comparisons with similar
amps, I came to the conclusion that it could be so much better. Indeed, Orange
themselves produce a superior version in the Tiny Terror Hard Wired model.
thing to do was to check what valves were fitted. My new Terror came with generic
Chinese items with no markings on them. Swapping them for a full set of new JJ
Electronic ECC83S and EL84 brought a good improvement, but still something
wasn’t quite right.
came the base plate and a thorough examination of the PCB, component types,
component values, voltages etc was carried out.
found that the cheap push-on heater connectors were dropping too much voltage
between the transformer heater wiring and the V3 heater pins.
Bias was set too high.
voltages were OK in 15W mode, but a bit on the low side in 7W mode.
were ordinary commercial grade, nothing special.
dress was particularly poor.
evening’s trawl on the internet for an official circuit diagram brought nothing
but incorrectly drawn versions, full of errors and omissions when compared with
the actual circuit.
“More Terror” kit addresses all of the above issues.
Critical components in the signal path are upgraded to boutique grade items,
including Mallory 150M Series capacitors, silver mica capacitors, and carbon composition
resistors, for a more authentic vintage valve sound.
tube bias is corrected to produce maximum power output. What’s more the output valve distortion is
noticeably sweeter and less harsh sounding.
rubbish heater connectors are removed and the valve heater circuit wiring is
completely hard wired.
wire dress is fully sorted for minimum noise levels.
and comparison tests after all the mods were carried out revealed a stunning
amplifier. Full of guts, clarity and definition, louder and yet somehow sweeter
sounding, this is now a killer amp!
included in the kit, are components for converting the left hand 8 ohm output
jack into a line-out jack, suitable for sending a line level signal to a larger
amplifier, P.A. mixing desk etc. The line-out jack signal comes after the
output transformer so is rich in output valve as well as preamp valve
distortion. You must still connect a speaker to the amplifier when using the
note that no voicing changes are made. It remains pure Orange. Just MORE guts,
MORE clarity, MORE sweetness, MORE definition.............
be aware that installing these modifications will void the manufacturer’s warranty
and that this kit and the procedures described are neither affiliated with nor
endorsed by OMEC (Orange Music Electronic Company Ltd).Tools needed
Installation of the modifications requires only basic soldering tools and a few other items available from your local hardware or electronics store. You will need:
• Paper and a pen
• A good quality general purpose soldering iron with stand (rated at about 25W)
• Solder and a good desoldering pump.
• Safety glasses or goggles.
• A multimeter, preferably with a digital screen, and a couple of alligator clips to attach the probes to component leads
• Various screwdrivers, including a set of small jeweller’s screwdrivers
• Small side-cutters
• Small needle-nosed (radio) pliers
• A desk-mounted light or illuminated magnifying glass (useful but not essential)
• A ¼” or 3/8” drive metric socket set and/or a set of small metric spanners (wrenches)
Instructions and pictures are kept in a folder. The folder is stored on a download site (download.com). You will receive a download link via email which will be sent to you at
the same time as you receive confirmation from eBay that the kit has been shipped.
I will use your PayPal registered email address unless you inform me of an alternative preferred email address. If you don't receive the link, please check your spam filter/junk folder, or contact me directly (email@example.com).
You will need a pdf
reader to access the instructions. You will need a picture viewer to view the pictures.

Successful Mo Terror
Hello Nigel, a friend of mine- j .firstname.lastname@example.org just completed the Mo Terror mod on my Orange Tiny Terror.
I had bought a Chinese one for the express purpose of doing your modification. The sound difference is amazing!
It went from Brittle to full and balls to the walls! I can't recommend this highly enough to anyone who wants killer tone.
Jeff Carmella is a fully qualified Amp repairman who is fastidious in his work. If you need someone in the U.S. to
recommend people to, talk to Jeff. He was impressed with the quality of the mods, the ease of instruction, and especially
the final result. He's like to do it again. In the meantime, would you recommend JJ or some other brand of tubes to open
up the sound even more? I'm going to go the rest of the way on this one. Thank you for such a brilliant parts swap.
