Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a hugely influential Scottish novelist, playwright & poet.
"The Lady of The Lake: A poem" published in 1810 for John Ballantyne & Co, Edinburgh and Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, and W Miller, London. 8vo (8.5in x 5.25in), [vi] + 433 pages, 6th edition, in the same year as the first. Such was the popularity of this particular work, no fewer than 12 editions were printed in the first year of publication.
The work is split into 6 cantos, each focused on the action of a single day, and all based around the Trossachs region of Scotland.

Internally in good condition, bookplate to front pastedown for a William Gibbons Mayne, no other inscriptions, front hinge a little cracked but fully secure, light to medium foxing to first & last few pages, light foxing sporadically throughout the book.
A nice antiquarian early edition of one of Sir Walter Scott's most famous works. Will start this auction at a bargain £9.99.
