Antique 1920's Autographic Vest Pocket
Kodak Folding Camera
with Leather Case

The Autographic Vest Pocket camera is an early example of a folding, bellows camera.

It made by Eastman Kodak in Rochester, USA from 1915 to the early 1920's.

When folded, the camera measures approximately 12 cm x 9 cm x 2.5 cm. Its small size made it particularly popular with the soldiers of WWI and is often referred to as "The Soldier's Camera".

This is a slightly later version, circa 1921.

It has a black, crackle, Japan crystal finish which is in very good order and surprisingly complete for its age. Much of the paint remains with some very light loss around the edges.

The front pulls open to reveal the bellows. These are in very good order and appear light tight with no obvious splits or tears.

It originally used A127 roll film (no longer made). It produced six, 6 cm x 9 cm format pictures.

The top houses a winding knob. This works well and rotates freely.

The lens is a Rapid Rectilinear.

There is a small, shutter release button mounted around the lens. I've tried this on all speeds ( 1/25, 1/50, T and B) and it works really well.

It offers a choice of apertures via a small slider on the bottom of the lens.

A small, glass viewfinder sits above the lens. This can be rotated for portrait or landscape photographs. It has some internal dust but is fair for its age.

The metal, Autographic pen is still in place at the rear: these are often missing.

It comes complete with a black leather case. This has some thinning along the top edge but is fair overall.

In summary, this camera is nearly 100 years old. It has not been tested with film and is being sold as a collector's item.

I am sure you will love adding it to your collection.
