A blue and white transferware Spode India pattern plate, c.1816. It is marked Spode to the underside along with the British Cobalt mark. It was discovered that the word 'Wheal' meant 'mine' in Cornish, so after a very short production run, this mark was changed with error corrected, thus marking these early India 'Wheal' plates extremely rare.
Excellent bar some light staining in places to the reverse. There are a couple of hairlines in the glaze on the reverse only and do NOT go through to the front.
The boring small print bit….
Postage, packing and despatch:
No profit is taken from postage/shipping costs. This cost is purely the actual cost of postage/shipping plus a small amount to partly cover the cost of the packing materials. All of these materials (boxes, bubble wrap, chippings and tape) are new; we do not re-use boxes for safety and security to ensure your items reach you in the condition they left us. Items are despatched within 24 hours of payment.
Due to the increased numbers of ‘buyers’ who do not pay for items once they have won an auction, we have to say that you are bidding to buy, not to look, not to think about it, not to renegotiate – buyers who do not pay within seven days will be reported to eBay and be blocked from bidding in the future.
In the extremely unlikely event that you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, please contact us on receipt of your goods.
Good luck in bidding.
