Last of the mk2 Astra convertibles, a 1993 registered car. 2.0 litre 8 valve engine in exceptional condition with very low mileage. I bought this car in November 2012 as a project to restore to its former glory. I drove it home on a trip of 370miles and it cost £40 in petrol and never missed a beat.
It drives like new and has been very well maintained. It has some history and is a genuine unmolested example. So much so that it was clearly in need of some refurbishment after 20 years, hence why it has been stripped.
I have started the job, and found that I am being very unrealistic with my available time. " young kids, full time job, self build extension, plus general life stuff!
The interior is in exceptional condition, even the seats. The paintwork is not bad, a few marks here and there. It has the original arches, never messed with and they are solid.
It deserves a full respray, which was my intention however good t cut and polish would bring all but the f/n/s wing / driver door and window pillar to a very high standard.
The underneath is in very good condition.
All the parts are here and come with the car. It may appear difficult to put back together but it should actually be quite easy.
There are parts with corrosion and they consist of a bit of rust to the top of the window, the sills have a few little holes in, the rear lip that holds the hood on is quite rusty. It still held the original hood on however but upon removing it it became apparent that it needs sorting out. I have sought one that has been cut from another car in good condition, and it will be included in the sale. It would need welding in place.
The original hood was vinyl white and had seen better days so its now binned. The suede lining is fully there and fine, just needs a freshen up and the structure / rubbers are all there. Parts of the structure where it met the car have being bitten by rust so I have also sought a full roof structure from another car, included in the sale.
Also spare alloy original wheel, with 4 good tyres.
With these parts really all this needs is time, patience and a bit of money to sort rust areas, paint and replace with new mohair hood.
These cars are rare and lovely when presented well.
