A set of the Twelve Caesars in Silver. Includes the following 

A-Julius Caesar. Late 46-early 45 BC. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.77 gm). Military mint traveling with Caesar in Spain. Diademed head of Venus right; Cupid on shoulder to left / Trophy of Gallic arms; bound captive to left and right. Crawford 468/1; CRI 58; Sydenham 1014; RSC 13.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

B-Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.49 g, 7h). Uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Caesaraugusta?). Struck circa 19-18 BC. Head left, wearing oak wreath / Comet of eight rays with tail upward. RIC I 37b; RSC 97. VF, toned.

The obverse shows Augustus wearing the corona civica, an oak wreath awarded to an individual who had personally saved a citizen (in Augustus' case it was the citizen body of the Roman world). The reverse depicts the comet which made a continuous daylight appearance during July 44 BC and was associated with the deification of Julius Caesar

C-TIBERIUS. 14-37 AD. AR Denarius "Tribute Penny" (3.59 gm,19mm). Lugdunum mint. TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, laureate head right / PONTIF MAXIM, Livia, as Pax, seated right, holding olive-branch and long vertical sceptre; ornate legs to chair. RSC 16c. Toned. VF.

D-Gaius (Caligula), with Divus Augustus. AD 37-41. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.56 g, 11h). Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck AD 37. Bare head of Gaius (Caligula) right / Radiate head of Divus Augustus right between two stars. RIC I 2; Lyon 157; RSC 11. VF, toned.

E-CLAUDIUS, A.D. 41-54. AR Denarius (2.66 gms, 18 mm) ca. A.D. 46-47.RIC-41; S-1848. Laureate head of Claudius right; Reverse: Three line inscription within wreath. Scarce type. Light graininess, good portrait. VERY FINE. 

F-Nero. AD 54-68. AR Denarius (3.36 g, 19 mm). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 67-68. Laureate head right / SA-LVS across field, Salus seated left, holding patera. Cf. RIC I 60/72 (for obv./rev. type); cf. RSC 319. Good VF. Bold portrait.Scarce.

G-Galba. AD 68-69. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.14 gm). Rome mint. IMP SER GALBA CAESAR AVG, laureate and draped bust right / VICTORIA P R, Victory standing left on globe, holding wreath in right hand, palm frond in left. RIC I 217; RSC 328; BMCRE 49; BN 97. Good VF, Rare.

H-Otho. AD 69. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.22 gm). Rome mint. Struck 15 January - 8 March AD 69. IMP M OTHO CAESAR AVG TR P, bare head right / SECVRI TAS PR, Securitas standing left, holding wreath and scepter. RIC I 8; RSC 17. Rare.Good VF.

I-VITELLIUS. 69 AD. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.78 gm). Rome mint. A VITELLIVS GERM IMP AVG TR P, laureate head right / CONCORDIA PR. Concordia seated left, holding patera and cornucopiae. RIC I 90; BMCRE 20; RSC 18. Good VF.

J-Vespasian. 69-79 AD. AR Denarius (3.5 gm, 17 mm). "Judaea Capta" issue. IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, laureate head right / IVDAEA in exergue, Jewess, in attitude of mourning, seated right; trophy behind. RIC II 15; BMCRE 35; Brin 16; RSC 226. Nice VF.

K-TITUS. 79-81 AD. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.90 gm). Struck 80 AD. IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M•, laureate head right / TR P IX IMP XV COS VIII P P, dolphin entwined around anchor. RIC II 26(b); RSC 309. Toned. VF.

L-DOMITIAN 81-96 AD. AR Denarius (3.39 gm). Struck 86/87 AD. IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P VI, laureate head right / IMP XIIII COS XIII CENS P P P, Minerva standing left, holding thunderbolt and spear, shield at her feet right. RIC II 93; BMCRE 106; RSC 215a.

 A decent  Denarius grouping of the Twelve Caesars, a showpiece collection. Twelve (12) coins in lot.
