You can find all the equipment in the item type above to make a hanging, eco friendly, cost effective drinker using Nipples, specially designed to reduce waste water, mess, spread of disease increase hygene and egg production. For chicks we have found that this type of system is especially important for us as we have tried and tested every product in the industry. Pheasant, partridge and pigeon chicks in particular are more suseptable to disease than most birds and we have found nipples not only reduce the spread of disease, they keep the floor fresh for longer, give the birds more floor area, are more hygenic and if you are treating your birds you will know the cost of treatment or vitamins, the last thing you want is your birds to be spilling 'your money' all over their bedding or feeding the worms with it. Birds love these nipples and we have included videos for your convenience, a description of how to put this unit together and a list of items you will need to make this system.
Find a bucket and mark out where your nipples are going to be placed in your bucket, I like to use bucket's with a lid and in this video we use a paint bucket
Drill your marked bucket with an 8.5mm drill bit.
Clean bucket from bits of plastic and screw in threaded nipples using an 11mm socket or put nipples directly into the end of the drill .(see video for more information)
Tie a hanging wire with some string, wire or cord in a loop at one end to hang from a hook or piece of wood, thread the other end through the handle, apply the cord ajuster, and secure with a knot. (see video for more information) Alternatively you can make a stand or put up some blocks to rase the drinker off the floor.

Hang the unit in your pen, regulate the correct height using the cord adjuster and fill bucket.

This item comes ready made and is for smaller quantity of livestock, a simple but effective design that keeps water fresh and can be made to re fill with a watering can, generally used if you want a more hygenic water system for your birds and is either too far to set up a automatic water system or if you don't want to go to the extent of setting a automatic or semi automatic system.

In this sectionAutomatic and semi atomatic drinker system.
This system is more common if you have larger quantities of birds and are looking for a hygenic, time saving, clean and cost effective way of looking after your birds, or if you are just generally tired of having to constantly clean and re fill drinkers. This system is used by the biggest game hatchery in europe and has proven to be the most effective way of bringing birds up from day old to adult birds, the system they use is with the pressure regulator shown in this video but we have included a semi automatic method if you do not wish to go to the expense of a fully automatic water system.
Pressure regulator is connected directly to hose pipe and 8mm pipe is connected to the other side. Some people think that they can reduce hose pipe to 8mm pipe without a regulator however this is not the case, I can tell you this because I am one of those people, a pressure regulator is required for a fully automatic system from the mains water because the pressure is simply too high, it damages the drinker and the birds can not use the drinkers properly. The pressure regulator reduces the pressure so that it will not accept any pressure too high for your birds unless you tell it to by altering the dial on the top of the unit clockwise and anti clockwise. One of these regulator's has been set up in a pen of 3000 birds and feeds them enough water, I am not sure how many more birds it is capable of watering as I have quite honestly never tried but I can tell you that it is no effort for that many birds. Based on 3000 birds this item will cost less than 2pence/3cent per bird to invest in.
This is the semi automatic method, a container is required, i have seen people use buckets, 5 gallon drums or 60 gallon containers for this method. Drill an 8mm hole in a container of your choice, push through 8mm pipe, put in container insert, pull back tight. The pipe coming from your container is your main pipe and this can be branched off by using 8mm T pieces to branch off for multiple pen's. At each pen you can push the 360 nipple directly into the 8mm pipe and thread through your mesh/wire or secure in some other way your nipple. The outlet of the container needs to be higher than the nipple or pipe for gravity to feed your semi automatic water system.

It is very difficult to find a feeder that birds do not waste food or dirty up with bits of unwanted material, not only that, a feeder that doesnt block up. This is practically impossible to find. Using pellets in any feeder will at some point in their life time block either with dust or wet food, if that doesnt do it, your birds will probably waste food. Unfortunately I have no solution for this but the spring feeder is probably one of the better of those design's. The birds peck and eat through the spring, an odd pellet drops out, the bird naturally pecks the one/s that fall to the ground first, spring can be bent to release dust and bent to release damp food, or in extreme severe cases removed and banged out. These work for pellets and are perfect for grain and can be hung which stops virmin from taking your food.
