IN MEMORY OF JACKSON POLLOCK…
Beginning its life as an iconic Bang & Olufsen 6-CD player with multi-room functionality, the artist responsible for the ‘SPECIAL EDITION / JACKSON POLLOCK’ range of bespoke abstract Bang & Olufsen products has hand crafted this stunning work of art by purchasing all new components and producing a new White aluminium plate, and a new CD clamper with the aluminium disc featuring the engraving ‘SPECIAL EDITION – JACKSON POLLOCK BANG & OLUFSEN’.
The effect is a stunning and unique white finish with black abstract (Jackson Pollock Style) to this design icon which has to be seen to be truly appreciated.
Jackson Pollock Style Abstract
The SPECIAL EDITION / JACKSON POLLOCK - BEOSOUND 9000 has been made in memory of the late Jackson Pollock (1912-1956).
An award-winning design classic, the SPECIAL EDITION / JACKSON POLLOCK Beosound 9000 immediately catches the eye with its strong lines, and is at once a modern icon and a state-of-the-art music system.
SPECIAL EDITION / JACKSON POLLOCK – BANG & OLUFSEN is laser engraved on the Aluminium CD-clamper of the spectacular 6-CD changer, which is, in fact, the fastest in the world, and would accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds if permitted to continue its momentum.
To many people, this is the essence of Bang & Olufsen: a modern design icon as well as a deeply functional music system. Perhaps you have just seen it in a movie or magazine, but you know that somehow you have always wanted one. It immediately catches the eye with its bold juxtaposition of strong lines and the random colours of the discs. Every player is unique, because every owner loads it with a different set of CDs. It is the perfect combination of individuality and icon; human and machine.
The list of the ingenious solutions and practical details in BeoSound 9000 just goes on. It is hard to find anything that has not been thought of. Photoelectric sensors protect curious fingers from the accelerating clamper. The CDs come to rest the way you loaded them, so the text is never upside down, using patented Bang & Olufsen technology. And the hidden buttons and the display can be adjusted according to how you choose to hang or stand the system, so they are never upside down either. Naturally.
Like the kinetic sculpture it is, the BeoSound 9000 seems almost to be a living thing. It´s the speed of the CD clamper as it zips back and forth in random mode. The sheer fun of such an advanced piece of mechanical engineering that can go from ‘Hey Jude’ on the first CD to ‘When the music’s over’ on the sixth without a noticeable pause. The glass lid swings open via a silent electric motor, and when the design experience unfolds in time all dimensions of it can be truly appreciated. And only when you hear the sound does it all come together.
This BeoSound 9000 is a Mark 3, type number 2572, BEOSOUND 9000 SPECIAL EDITION – JACKSON POLLOCK.
