BMW R 850 R R850R VGC FULL T&T NOT R1100 R1150

For sale BMW R850R 2000 X with just over 40,000mls. I am the 3^rd mature owner. The bike comes with 12mths tax & 12mths MOT. Both tyres are in excellent condition with plenty of tread remaining. This bike was built for the  2001 model year so it has the later styling including the wheels & EVO servo brakes with ABS all working perfectly. It also has the better much improved 6 speed gearbox. As you can see in the pics she is in lovely condition. These are a classic machine but with modern brakes, tyres, shaft drive & fuel injection.

The bike is always admired by everyone that has seen it, ask any BMW enthusiast and they will tell you that the 850 is the best of the bunch. They have virtually similar performance to the 1150 and are a much smoother engine. The 850`s also do not suffer with the surging issues that can bother owners of the 1150. Lastly the engines im told are more robust as they use the same internals as the 1150 but they are put under much less strain due to the smaller capacity. If you are looking for a proper motorbike with loads of character that starts on the button then this is for you.    

I purchased the bike intending to return to biking after many years away from bikes but sadly its not for me as clearly I have become much too comfortable in the car. 

The bike has no documented service history but I bought it because the owner had clearly looked after it well during his ownership with multiple engine, gearbox & final drive oil changes. In addition it rides and sounds so sweet and the owner was very genuine & honest. In my opinion if a bike looks ok and rides & sounds ok what else is there to worry about. The bike is completely hpi clear.

The only issues I am aware of are the left hand heated grip does not work but I suspect just changing the grip will solve this. There is a very small tear in the seat but its been the same way all the time the last owner had it and gotten no worse. The left cylinder case is scraped on the bottom as shown but nothing serious. Lastly one of the rear indicator lenses could do with replacing at some point.

·        New brake pads fitted approx July 2011

·        Comes with Haynes maintenance manual

·        Oil filter removal tool

·        Full stainless bolt kit - replaces all of the major bolts in shiny stainless

 The bike is as good as it looks I genuinely believe the new owner will not be disappointed. I am happy to put you in touch with the previous owner should you wish it.

Having thought about it what is the point of keeping the reserve hidden its not a secret and by not revealing the reserve its a waste of your time and mine so Ive decided to include it here. After all I am unable to sell her for any less so the reserve is £2000. "About time" I hear you say : -)

Well as the sun was shining I decided to man up and take her to work to give her a run out. The conclusion, I still ride like my granny but it really is a lovely bike and just for a couple of minutes I genuinely thought to myself am I doing the right thing by selling it. Sadly the answer was yes I just cant do this bike justice and use it as it deserves to be used. Somebody is going to get a fabulous bike!!    

Just added a couple more pics as I have been cleaning & polishing her today ready for her new owner. Surprised nobody has been to see her yet but whoever buys it will not regret it.  I think it will be a shame if nobody bids the reserve because there is masses of interest and so many watchers its unbelievable. As a bidder said to me earlier this week the bike is worth the reserve all day long. Finally the summer weather is here you cant lose so folks what are you waiting for.
