What magnification do I need?

Generally speaking, the lower the magnification:

  • the brighter the image so your eyes are less strained
  • the closer the nearest focus point
  • the greater the depth of field
  • the wider the field of view
  • the easier the binoculars are to hold.

The higher the magnification:

  • the less bright the image, so not suitable for hunting or low light
  • the narrower the depth of field, requiring more frequent focusing
  • the heavier the binoculars are likely to be
  • the harder they are to hold still.

For birdwatching, natural environment etc., lower magnifications such as 7x or 8 x are recommended, especially if you also use a telescope.

Higher magnifications (10x) are more suitable for use in hides or for viewing estuaries, reservoirs or other large, expansive areas.                                                  If you do not use a telescope and weight is not a problem, the higher 10x magnification can be a good compromise.

Free post? ...Why we charge you

Buy more than one similar item, its much cheaper, because the Courier company charge a  one off fee of £4.95 for the tracked service  and  is included in the first item., you then just pay for the added weight costs, and this is done automatically for you at check out 

If you buy a different product to add to your first purchase, the £4.95 tracked mail fee has to be removed manually and credit you  back since its in every FIRST purchase of any product. there is no automatic removal for this charge.
