  • The Original Beatles, Yesterday And Today "Butcher Cover" Album Cover Promo Poster is the Rarer Promotional 18 x 22 Original Capital Records Released Poster. This might be far more valuable then we have listed it for considering the 1966 Capitol LP-  Album itself  “Yesterday and Today” (stereo “Butcher” cover) sells for $15,000.00 which were made in a much larger edition as albums are compared to the Original Promotional Posters that are printed in smaller numbers due to the fact that they are mean for display not for sale in record shops and as avertizements on bill board for the album. Thus there are always much few of them available to collectors or general public.
  •  It is in Near Mint Condition (with some minor age spots on back of poster which have been neutralized) It is in the best condition of any current available Originally Released Capital Records Promotional Posters

  • We grade our item according to the Iguide Universal 10-Point Grading Scale.
  • C10 Mint - Investment quality. No perceptible flaws of any kind.
  • C9 Near Mint - Investment quality. Minor flaw on an otherwise unused item.
  • C8 Excellent - Investment quality. A few minor defects. Pin holes, small tears, etc.
  • C7 Very Good to Excellent - Fine. Several defects. Still a very nicely preserved item.
  • C6 Very Good - The typical used item in average condition. Several defects
  • C5 Good to Very Good - A heavily-worn item.
  • C4 Good - Below average but still suitable for display.
  • C3 Fair - Heavily worn, but yet still complete.
  • C2 Poor to Fair - An extremely worn, possibly even incomplete item.
  • C1 Poor - The lowest grade, representing items in the lowest possible condition.
  •
  • Item Measures 18"X22"

  • 1966 This item is the Vintage Originally Released Capital Records Promotional Poster *there are bootleg reprints out there as mentioned on RareBeatles.com We have included a picture to show the difference between bootlegs and Authentic, Yesterday and Today.

  • You can tell the unauthorized reproduction of this Capitol Promotional Poster by the visually detected  blueish spot (with light colored dot in center)to the right of the title word "Yesterday".
  •  The originals were printed on the glossy thin stock paper from Capital records, on the listing we include a picture of the mark the reprints that are the unauthorized reproductions of the Capitol promotional poster detected by a blueish spot (with light colored dot in center)to the right of the title word "Yesterday". The photo and album title are very sharp, but the cover has several other minor flaws, as if was photographed from a not quite perfect butcher jacket..
  •
  • We can assure you this item is the Authentic Vintage Original Capitol Records Promotional Poster since we had purchased two in the late 1960's.  We had two in Storage and sold one to a Beatles collector last year.  He was completely satisfied with it'sauthenticity and have only had positive feedback from him.

  • We will guarantee its authenticity and your satisfaction with a full refund if it is not what we have listed on our site.
  •  This poster will only go up in value over time as it is the rarest of all the Beatles Posters!

  • It is Not a Reprint, Giclee Print nor Ink Jet Print  but the Original Capital Released Promotional Poster!
  •
  • This record is the ninth Capitol album release by the Beatles and the eleventh overall American release. It was issued only in the United States and Canada. The album is remembered primarily for the controversy surrounding its original cover image, the "butcher cover" featuring the band dressed in white smocks and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat. The album's title is based on the song "Yesterday." Early album cover proofs show the word "Yesterday" in quotes. The "Butcher cover" In early 1966, photographer Robert Whitaker had the Beatles in the studio for a conceptual art piece entitled A Somnambulant Adventure. For the shoot, Whitaker took a series of pictures of the group dressed in butcher smocks and draped with pieces of meat and body parts from plastic baby dolls. The group played along as they were tired of the usual photo shoots—Lennon recalled the band having "boredom and resentment at having to do another photo session and another Beatles thing"—and the concept was compatible with their own black humour.Mojo magazine, former Capitol president Alan W. Livingston stated that it was Paul McCartney who pushed strongly for the photo's inclusion as the album cover, and that McCartney reportedly described it as "our comment on the war". A photograph of the band smiling amid the mock carnage was used as promotional advertisements for the British release of the Paperback Writer single. Also, a similar photograph from this shoot was used for the cover of the 11 June 1966 edition of the British music magazine.

  • I kept it flat  because I planned one day to frame it, and consequently remained in my art archive undisturbed for over 40 years!

  • I am making it available now is available to the discerning collector.
