Beatrix Potter - Tale of Peter Rabbit

Potter, Beatrix, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, illustrated by Beatrix Potter, Privately Printed, London, 1902, the First edition second impression (see below), in Good+ condition.

[86], 24mo in size (110mm x 140mm). Original boards, rounded spine, black blocked title and rabbit vignette to upper cover.

Rubbed to extremities, very light soiling to covers, minor abrasions above title, small chip to head of spine. Edges of text block lightly foxed, with light foxing to endpapers, title and first few pages, small red pen dot to rear endpaper, generally quite bright and clean.

Colour frontispiece and forty-one line drawings throughout. Now housed in a velvet lined drop back box made by Temple Bookbinders, with the title blocked to the spine and the front cover of the book replicated on the front cover of the box.

The second impression of the privately printed first work by Potter (with the rounded back rather than the flat back), with only two hundred copies printed.
