Malvern Theatre Autumn 2014
Escape Exhibition: Spring 2011
Kirsty Wain presents her exhibition ‘Escape’ which includes a broad range of painting including landscape, still life and abstract.
This collection represents an ongoing practice of experimentation and personal themes. These themes explore places, some are spaces that the artist is familiar with and has an affinity with whilst others are spiritual with no first hand interaction.
The paintings have an instinctive, autonomous style to them with influences engrained along the way such as Van Gogh and Hockney. Also influenced by the abstract expressionists, the artist likes to work with freedom and without constraints, moving between abstract and semi realism.
Kirsty’s paintings have a dynamic personality with lots of marks, textures and successful colour interactions.
Since moving to Malvern in 2010 Kirsty has been inspired by the landscapes and variety of flora in the area and this has impacted on her work. The latest work ’Malvern Wilderness’ is a large semi-abstract landscape painting set across two canvases. This is the largest scale the artist has worked on to date.
Kirsty studied Art and Design at the University of Portsmouth and later qualified to teach Art at the University of Central England in Birmingham.
She has contributed to group exhibitions in UK galleries and sold her work internationally.
