American Society of Bookplate Collectors and Designers
Year Book 1985, edited by Audrey Spencer Arellanes.
The whole of this 44-page Year Book is devoted to an article by Brian North Lee on the bookplate work of Claud Lovat Fraser (1890-1921), with checklists of his 36 bookplates and his 27 drawings for unused designs. Portrait of the artist as frontispiece, 20 pages of essay, 10 pages of checklist and bibliography, and 25 illustrations (of which 15 in colour).
Original prints of Lovat Fraser's highly characteristic bookplates are in most cases exceedingly difficult to obtain. Thus this comprehensive article is as close as one may get to an appreciation of this artist's exlibris work.
The image shows the front cover, with title page superimposed, plus four of the colour illustrations of one original drawing and of three bookplates.
Condition: This has been held aside since publication nearly 30 years ago. Slight fading to the edges of the coloured card covers, some rusting of staples, otherwise good.
In all cases please wait to be billed before making payment.
