"Like Tintin, I first took to the seas aboard a passenger liner bound for Africa. I travelled regularly with my parents in Union Castle ships, spending months of my early life absorbed by things maritime, if without the company of a small white dog and a black-bearded sea captain. I read my first Tintin book at the age of six. Hooked, I devoured every volume, and later spent years at sea with the Royal Navy experiencing adventures as exciting as any imagined by Herge. I am indebted to my friend Admiral Georges Prud'homme, then director of the Musee National de la Marine, who took me around his acclaimed Tintin exhibition in Paris a few years ago ('Mille Sabords!) and sparked the idea for our new show. It is delightful that Tintin is able to come to Greenwich exactly 75 years after his creation......" (Roy Clare)

Our copy of the book - the official Book of the National Maritime Museum's Exhibition of 2004 - is a large hardback with glazed pictorial boards, published by John Murray. It is a first edition. Apart from a little light wear and rubbing to the boards, it is in almost-perfect condition.
