This auction is for a Canon T-60 35mm SLR camera with accompanying FD 50mm f1.8 lens, both of which have been thoroughly tested and are guaranteed to be in excellent working condition. The external finish of the camera is excellent. There are some faint rub marks, primarily on the rubberized panels. Internally, the mirror is clean and in good shape, as is the focusing screen. The pentaprism/viewfinder area is in good condition, with only a few random dust particles. The exposure meter is functioning and very responsive. I did not, however, check its calibration. The shutter is functional, and the timing appears to be right on all speed settings. The battery compartment is clean and shows no evidence of corrosion, and the light seals and mirror damper pad have been recently replaced. The lens is in nearly-new condition. The barrel shows no signs of use at all. The paint is shiny, and the lettering shows no fading or discoloring. The optics are excellent, with no scratches, fogging, or fungus present. The blades are clean and dry. It focused smoothly and stopped-down correctly throughout the entire aperture range. It comes with a Canon lens cap. The T-60 has always been one of my favorite Canon designs. I regard it as the SLK of the Canon line; small, sleek, and fast handling. I like to refer to it as the little camera that could, or more correctly, the little camera that “coulda”. Just like Marlon Brando in “On the Waterfront”, it “coulda been a contender”. Instead, it became a victim of what I consider to be a failed marketing strategy on the part of Canon. While it shares the “T” family name along with the T-50, T-70, T-80, and T-90, it shares virtually none of the technology of the other models, with the exception of the shutter mechanism and some of the metering components. Even its appearance doesn’t resemble any of the other T models. In actuality, the T-60 design is descended from the A-series cameras, and could best be described as a more modern version of the AV-1. But rather than marketing it as such, Canon chose to group it in with the other T-models, where it became something of a red-haired stepchild. (No offense to any red-haired stepchildren reading this. I didn’t coin the phrase, but in this case, it is certainly appropriate.) As a result, the T-60 had no mass appeal to the market base that the rest of the T-series was intended for, and it was never effectively presented to the market share that would have embraced it. To its credit, it did manage to outlast both the T-50 and the T-70; but it never fully realized its potential. As a result, not many were sold—comparatively speaking—and as a result of that, there aren’t many currently available on the secondary market. Its hybrid mix of mechanical and electronic technologies (the best of both old and new) and its capability for both manual and fully automatic operation make it an excellent model for those looking to bridge the gap from digital to film media; and its compact size and weight make it an excellent choice for younger photographers to learn on. For many reasons, including its innovative design as well as its lost identity, the T-60 certainly deserves its place in the Canon legacy. I am a professional photographer with over forty years of experience. I will never sell a piece of equipment that I have not carefully checked out. I visually inspect cameras and lenses under 10x magnification. I also test all items to the best of my capabilities, to ensure their complete and satisfactory functionality, prior to listing them. These items come from my personal collection and studio inventory, not from some garage sale or flea market. My quality assurance pledge is based on my personal and professional reputation. Shipping for United States addresses will be by USPS Priority Service with delivery confirmation. Shipping to all other countries will be by USPS International Express service. This service requires shipping to a physical address, not a Post Office Box, and also requires a signature of the recipient. The actual shipping charges will vary by country, and may include additional insurance when I feel it is necessary, to protect against loss or damage. These charges will be included in the final invoice, so international bidders, do not pay until this invoice is received. I will gladly combine shipping on multiple items to any address. I offer a 7 day, limited return provision for U.S. addresses only. As long as the item is received back in the exact condition it was when shipped, I will allow for a full refund of the purchase price. (Buyer is responsible for return shipping charges.) I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS FROM ANY FOREIGN ADDRESSES. International bidders: These terms and conditions are non-negotiable. This is a no reserve auction. Serious bidders only please. NOTE: It is officially Spring-cleaning time, and we are in the process of tackling a long-dreaded project—clearing out the warehouse clutter—so we will be listing other items on a regular basis. I encourage anyone interested to continually check the offerings… Thanks, and Good Bidding… |
