I'm a professional musician and a music teacher too, I bought this keyboard for my little nephews christening gift, he's roughly 2 years old. Great little starter / learner / toy to play with, a decent little three notes can all be played at once, making this sensible to play simple starter classical pieces, and all the regular starter three finger keyboard songs too, like chopsticks, happy birthday etc. This is roughly 30cm long, and has the mini sized keys, which are not pressure sensitive, but this is a stunning little kids toy for £10, and certainly not a crude noise maker toy, this is definitely a cheap starter instrument, that I'd recommend to anyone, for kids aged 9, right down to just out of the wrapper themselves. Very fun, (so fun he almost didn't get it!, I wasted a Saturday afternoon cracking toccata and fugue in D minor on this). The 8 sounds in there are basic, a little cheap sounding, but its all certainly musical if you understand. Its perfectly in tune, and the sounds are all sensible instruments, like trumpet and violin, there's no silly sounds, like dogs barking or machine guns, like a lot of these have cats meowing etc, these are all proper instrument sounds, theyre all in tune, and all playable. Good points, there is a headphone socket, and this can be powered from either a mini USB cable, or AA battery's. Bad points?, it doesn't come packaged with any of those things, especially any kind of power, you need batterys with this, its loud as hell also, but does have a good volume control, (or is cheap enough to sabotage with a cup of coffee). I highly recommend this as a fun, cheap gift for any kid, its a basic instrument / fun electric toy, all that for less than £10, and you never know, it might just click with them. Take a gamble on it!.Read full review

I wasn’t expecting much for a tenner but I thought the electronics on a basic keyboard aren’t complex so why not have a go? Well half the functions don’t work and the demo tubes it’s supposed to play aren’t the ones it plays. And the sound quality is very very poor. Spend more, get more I guess. If you have more. Next time I’ll get a second hand Casio!

This does not come with instructions and we can't figure out how to use the record and play. You seem to have to hold down the record button the whole time you are recording which then makes it impossible for a child to play the keyboard. Then it sometimes records and plays and sometimes not. We can't figure it out. It does not record the microphone which was disappointing. Still a great cheap toy though for a kid to play with for a year or so
