•   Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate 250g - This product varies from a very fine powder to small crystals less than 0.5mm in size. The product is packaged in a very strong re-sealable bag.
     
•   Molecular formula: CuSO4 5H20

Uses - It is a commonly included chemical in children's chemistry sets and is often used to grow crystals in schools and in copper plating experiments. Because of its toxicity, it is not recommended for small children. Copper sulphate is often used to demonstrate an exothermic reaction, in which steel wool or magnesium ribbon is placed in an aqueous solution.

As a fungicide in mixtures such as Bordeaux where it is mixed with lime or Chestnut compound where it is mixed with ammonium carbonate to prevent damping off in seedlings.

In Fehling's solution and Benedict's solution to test for reducing sugars, which reduce the soluble blue copper(II) sulphate to insoluble red copper(I) oxide. Copper(II) sulphate is also used in the Biuret reagent to test for proteins.

•   International postage costs - Postage costs for international shipping can be high as our products tend to be heavy. The method of shipping will depend on the country and the weight of the package.
     
•   Delivery times - These vary widely depending on what country. Typically in Europe packages take less than 7 working days (1½ Weeks). However, this does vary, countries such as Italy appear to have slow internal shipping.
 
   
 
 
 
•   Payment - All payments must be received in pounds sterling within 7 days of purchase. Cheques must be drawn on a UK bank account. Please allow 5 working days for clearance of cheques from date of receipt. We do not accept international money orders or cheques.
     
•   Postage - Postage charges are clearly shown in the auction listing. The charges include both the postage and the packaging cost and represent the actual cost that we pay. If you purchase the item you are deemed to have accepted the shipping charges quoted. International postage may be subject to import duties or other taxes.
