Ali Reynolds is renovating her new house when her contractor, the man in charge of the construction crew, is arrested for murdering his wife Morgan. Ali knows Bryan Forester pretty well and doesn't believe he has done this horrible crime. When Bryan asks Ali to help him investigate, being the kind person she is, she can't help herself and agrees to help try and clear his name and stop him from being thrown in prison and leaving his twin daughters, one of which already has trouble connecting with people and hardly talks to anyone apart from her sister, with no mother or father to look after them. This causes some disagreements and arguments with her 'ex' boyfriend Dave Holman who was the detective investigating the case and was certain Bryan was the man to blame for the murder of his wife. As Ali digs deeper into investigating more about his wife she soon finds out that who she thought was a happily married woman was not the case as she found out all her little secrets, including one about an online dating site known as Singleatheart which main purpose was for helping married men and women have affairs away from their better half which is exactly what Morgan had been doing. After checking out the site and what Morgan had been trying to gain from it, Ali had accidentally got herself involved way more than she had known or wanted to and was soon in hot water and next on the murderer's radar and she has no idea about it. This is a really well written thriller with many seemingly unrelated characters who are all unbelievably intertwined with each other, the characters were very believable and easy to relate to. The main characters all had great storylines which made the book a lot more enjoyable to read as each story within the book merged together perfectly and kept me wanting to come back for more and not put the book down until I found out what happened next. J.A. Jance did a great job of making the book modern and relatable with the use of the online dating site which is very common now and used by a lot of people and after reading this might make them more internet savvy and more wise about what can happen online and make them think carefully about what information is online and how people could easily access it and then access your life. The other stories within the book are also very interesting and add to the book as a whole as they develop the characters further as you delve into the past of Ali and her family and learn more about her son Chris who gets married to a lovely ex war hero Athena who is severely injured after losing part of her leg and arm in an accident which doesn't down her spirits and they make a very happy couple. You also learn more about her mother who in the end is a key part of the plot of the book due to her calmness and her mental strength and of course her recently purchased taser which comes in handy… View the full review at http://www.ciao.co.uk/Cruel_Intent_J_A_Jance__Review_6080985Read full review
