Unwanted Gift! - Given to me today by the AA (Automobile Association) - comes complete with matching AA branded high visibility vest. I am selling this as a charity auction to raise money for RoadPeace who, as well as suppporting the many victims of road crashes, also campaigns to tackle bad driving and introduce 20mph speed limits - both far more likely to reduce cycling casualties than giving away cycle helmets! As Edmund King, President of the AA, himself admits: "Our view is that helmets do not protect against cars..." In any case I personally would rather not advertise an organisation which spreads mis-information about the impacts of 20mph speed limits while I am cycling (see: http://www.politics.co.uk/opinion-formers/press-releases/20-s-plenty-for-us-aa-spreads-mis-information-on-effect-of-20-mph-speed-limits-on-c02-emmissions-$484830$483907.htm) The helmet is brand new and comes boxed with instructions. Note: The helmet is large size (58-62cm) please ensure this is the right size for you and that you know how to fit it correctly! The AA did not appear to be offering a choice of size when they handed these out, or to be offering any advice on fitting, despite the fact that both size and fitting are critical to the (limited) protection that a helmet can offer. So please be generous with your bids as RoadPeace is a deserving cause (apparently the helmet normally retails at "up to £27" but this is of course a rare limited edition version, so perhaps it's worth more?). P.S. In order to raise as much as possible, I am offering free postage too! |
