This collection 39 tracks, deals with David Essex's post CBS career... For those whose memory doesn't go back that far. CBS is where the majority of David Essex's massive commercial success stemmed from in the 1970's... Although I was aware of a great many of the tracks included here, it had been many years since I'd heard them. I was very pleasantly suprised at just how good most of the material still sounds.. David Essex has been known to drop badly into almost self parody at times, especially when doing cover versions of other peoples classic songs... and not quite reaching the standards he is more than capable of.. However there's some stunning material included here. The hits 'Silver Dream Machine', 'Oh What A Circus', 'Me And My Girl Nightclubbing', ' A Winters Tale', and 'Tahitti', should be known to most potential buyers. Though it's the not so well known gems that really hit the mark... The anthemic sounds of 'Imperial Wizard' and 'Fallen Angels Riding', the near hits, 'The Smile', Be Bop A Lula', 'Heart On My Sleeve' and the stunning 'Fishing For The Moon'.. There's also the wonderful b-side to 'Oh What A Circus', 'High Flying Adored', as well as a really magical re-recording of his own hit 'Stardust' that is almost as spectacular as the original 70's version.. I'd heartedly recommend this disc to anyone wanting a bit of David Essex music in their lives... It's as good a best of collection as the bigger hits version, and gives a nice balance to the material that came after the really successful mid 70's period... Recommended ++++++Read full review

This purchase was prompted by sheer nostalger and is an album with many good songs that are not often played today.Davd Essex has a very pleasant sounding voice that can convay emotion well and thus revives some nice memories
