|Type:||Touring Bike||Frame Size:||57cm|
An auction (no buy it now) for an old Dawes Super Galaxy.
Its been in my shed for ages and spent a lot of time on a Turbo Trainer.
Its previous owner fitted the extra low drop bars, he also did a bit of Time Trailing on this bike.
The mudguards have been removed and one bolt sheared in the hole, if you wish to refit mudguards you will need
to drill it out and fit a new bolt.
I left the rear rack on it looks a bit odd with it fitted and no mudguards under it.
Frame size is Large - 57 cms measured roughly.
a Classic Bike, steel Reynolds 531 tubing, the pinnicle of bicycle making back in the mid 80's
3 x 8 gears and 28 x 1 and 1/4 tyres. This bike has a replacement front wheel fitted and will come with a matching
replacement for the rear if you want to fit it yourself.
The pedals are both too worn to be used, I will leave them on but you will need new ones.
a good Classic bike perhaps for an entry to Road Racing - Cheap Touring or even Time Trails like its previous owner.
Collect from near Dalbeattie, South West Scotland
or I can deliver or meet you half way for a cost towards fuel, please ask.
Im a Van Courier and often go to Biggar - Kelso - Hawick - Gretna - Stranraer
So if you are prepared to wait a few weeks I may be able to part deliver half way for
a small diversion cost.
Im really not keen to package it up in a box and post it, its a lot of hassel and cost.
The top tube is 56 cms from the centre line of the seat tube to the same at the head stock.
I took it for a spin today, and noticed that when you back pedal in the lowest 3 gears at the rear, the
chain pulls the mech. I suspect it either needs adjusting or a new mech. Pedalling forward is Ok however.
I find it uncumfy to ride with such deep swept drop bars and I dont like the bar end gear changers, I cant use them properly.
However, since it spends its time as a Turbo Trainter bike, Im not too bothered.
