An Important Note About Dell Laptop Warranties
We have noticed that more and more sellers are advertising Dell Laptops with alleged Onsite/Next Business Day/3 Year Warranties, or stating a date (eg. 10/12/2015) that a Dell warranty is valid until. This is not always true.
If you are considering on purchasing a Dell laptop it is important that you check the validity of such claims. Most sellers are simply basing these claims on the result of entering the service tag (serial number) of the laptop HERE, however unless you have the original owners first name, last name, and email address, Dell will not deem the warranty to be valid, or if purchased from a retail store, the original purchase location, store name, and date is required. To have a valid warranty, the ownership of the laptop needs to be transferred to you using THIS form. If incorrect original owner information is submitted here, you will be notified to expect a response within 15 days, and in a few days you will receive an email from Dell stating that your request has been denied.
There is no such thing as an "unregistered" Dell Laptop. All Dell laptops are registered at either point of sale or when they are shipped to the buyer/retail store. Dell are extremely stringent about this requirement to prevent abuse of fraudulent warranty claims and to prevent stolen laptops from having warranty honoured to anyone but the rightful owner. On some occasions you may even find the warranty information from Dell's website gets deleted a few weeks or a few months after you have purchased a laptop. This happens if the laptop had been sold without warranty to a secondary sales channel retailer (companies like us) but the database had not been updated yet, or if the laptop has been reported stolen.
If you are considering purchasing a Dell laptop with such a warranty statement in the advertisement, we strongly urge you to contact the seller before purchasing and confirm that the ORIGINAL owner information is available. If the laptop is advertised as "New" then this information will be attached to the laptop box. Original owner and shipment information is ALWAYS attached to Dell boxes.
