Relisted due to no communication non paying ebayer. Payment required on auction end.
I purchased this item as faulty some time ago. I was trying to fix it in my spare time.
It was sold stating that there was a green line on the screen and cracks on the hinges which is a common problem on these. Many months later I discovered that the processor had been downgraded to a single core processor. So I upgraded it to a p8600 core 2 duo 2.40 processor. It came with 512 mb of ram so I upgraded to 2gb ram. I then took the screen apart and noticed that it had been glued with some black sticky stuff!!! So I put it back together for another time as it was something I couldn't fix there and then. I then put in a spare hard drive that was hardly used and installed windows vista and used the key from under the battery. Everything seemed to work excellent except for the intermittent thin green line that disappeared when you moved the screen, the main issue was the keyboard. The keyboard works but certain keys were intermittent so I purchased a new keyboard and it made no difference. I ran the hardware checker from the BIOS and it said the keyboard was not detected. This was with both keyboard.
So to be clear....
If you use a keyboard via USB it works fine.
The LCD hinges are cracked and don't feel 100% secure.
There is a black sticky glue around the LCD bezel I think its to reenforce the hinges.
Both hard drive caddy's are missing as well as the secord hard drive connector. Which can be purchased via ebay but I never used it but was going to if I managed to resolve all the issues.
Slight crack near power led...
Battery doesn't hold a decent charge.
It's not pretty but it works, the keyboard issue is very annoying and I'm not sure how this could be fixed.
I did notice the keyboard issue when I first switched it on but figured it was simply a keyboard problem and that a new keyboard would fix the issue... I was wrong. The original owner probably knew this too, which is why he downgraded the ram and cpu and removed the hard drive caddy's.
So it has a decent CPU and ram, a healthy 160gb hard drive.
The screen, hinges and bezel will need looking at for sure as well as the main issue...the keyboard.
The hinges covers are coming away which would indicate the hinges are probably broken or breaking.
