It may be old, but it makes up for 3-5 individual pedals. Drum patterns are great, you can set tempo, etc. DigiTech also did a great job with a pre-amp type variation that provides a boost with same settings. Flanger, chorus, distortion and delay all built in to this unit. Very happy with this product!

This works great as a headphone/practice amp, with a ton of tonal variations and some really lush reverb sounds. But it just does not sound good using as an effect pedal into a clean amplifier, which is what it's actually supposed to be. And the high-gain tones just sound odd. But some of the clean sounds are beautiful. Great if bought cheap if you just want to play guitar without disturbing others.

I purchased a used RP-50 on Ebay, because while moving, I misplaced the one I owned for years. This pedal is fairly easy to use, just plug it in and start rocking. In order to save time, I just use the preset settings, which provide numerous guitar sounds by pressing the blue "up" or "down" pedals. The preset drum machine rhythms are a great way to augment practicing guitar or record demos. The drum machine sounds powerful and can be volume adjusted. My only criticism of the device is that the all of the preset guitar sounds have a similar tinge to them. Regardless whether one chooses the clean chorus sound or the setting that sounds like stadium heavy metal -- all of the sounds seem to fall within the same tonal range. Overall, a great practice pedal, which might also work for certain gig situations.Read full review
The unit takes a little getting used to. The drums are a nice feature by not really user friendly to use. Over all it is a nice introduction into effects units. However I had to play with mine before I started liking sounds and effects that I really would use. Make sure you read the manual. Don't worry it is easy and is short. Just plan on spending a lot of time setting things up. But is you like doing that anyway. No problem. There are a lot better unit out there, but this does a good job.
"Back in my day..." an effects unit like this, when it first came on the market cost thousands. This one was $35. It's easy to use, and even though you select from a collection of presets on any given effect, it's pretty good at getting close to "that sound" if you can't get it exactly. Did I mention that it is easy to use? It's easy to use.
