Remembrance Of The Daleks is the cornerstone of modern Doctor Who. A dramatic shift away in 1988 from the flowery, pantomimey nonsense of the year before, Remembrance Of The Daleks began the show's silver anniversary with a bang. So many of the themes and notes from this adventure still carry on in todays runaway success, and few remember that Sylvester McCoy was the first serious, dark, dangerous Doctor, echoes, particularly, in Christopher Eccleston. Direction and production values are, for once, almost flawless, although its fun looking out for 1980s flats in what should be 1963, and see if you can spot Sylvs script still in his pocket during a scene! If you like David Tennant's era of Doctor Who, and his relationship with his most deadly of enemies, and if you're new to the Classic Series Remembrance Of The Daleks is an absolute must have.Read full review
One of the few McCoy era stories that merits a viewing today. Small scale action (set in a school) with 2 distinct Dalek factions. A pseudo-Davros figure who turns out to be...? Special Weapons Dalek... First instance of a stair-climbing Dalek..a real attention grabber at the time! Much to like, and little to quibble about. Worth watching.
