I love the donkey kong country series. The first game in the DKC series is fantastic. Great graphics, music, gameplay, etc but the second game seemed dumbed down a little bit with poor looking enemies compared to the first game, music wasn't as good, but some pro's for DKC 2 is that the backrounds are very well done, has a secret ending, and its longer than the first game. The DKC series also has 2 player mode which is great. I do not like some some of the added things like: some of the added creatures that you ride on,some of the added enemies are pathetic looking, and how they got rid of alot of sound effects in the original and replaced it with the air guitar for dixie, and boom box for diddy when you beat the level. I may be saying alot of bad things about this game but I think its just bad compared to the first DKC. Overall I would recommend this game because it is in a great series, but play the first DKC before this if you haven't already. Rating:4/5Read full review
Donkey Kong Country 2 is an excellent Super Nintendo game. The second game in the series, Donkey Kong Country 2 is just as good as the original game and has some new features that make it more interesting. Unlike the original Donkey Kong Country you play as Diddy and Dixie. Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by King K. Rool and it is your job to rescue him. Unfortunately this means that you never get to play as Donkey Kong which is disappointing...love DK... Despite this, Donkey Kong Country 2 is a great platformer just like its predecessor. The game is pretty much the same except for some new features. Dixie can use her hair to glide in the air which is actually very useful. There are now bonus coins and DK coins to collect in each level which can be used to access hidden levels. The game also features “Swanky Kong’s Gameshow” in which you answer questions about DKC2 to win extra lives. In addition, the game is much longer than the original which is definitely an improvement. While Donkey Kong Country 2 is a great game, it can be difficult at times, much more difficult than the original. I would highly recommend Donkey Kong Country 2 to anyone. Pros: - Tons of great levels - Much longer than the original game Cons: - Can be frustrating at timesRead full review
Donkey Kong Land 2 ( as we call it) is a game written in my heart. connected with my childhood. All the game is designed so neatly. I love the 2d-3d combo, as well as variety of atmospheres across the different levels. For so many years back they managed to create a magnificent feel about the game. It has its funny elements as well of course which are also a plus. A must have title imo, wont let you down. Plenty of levels and quite challenging at several points. Even the sound effects are still in my head (when barrels and enemies were hit etc) so imagine that :) Swamps, volanoes, ice, jungle, pirate ships, roller coasters, like verything you can possibly imagine as a level concept at the time is included. I just love it 3
Hello my name is Sandy. My son first introduced me to the Donkey Kong games as they were just being introduced. Back when he was in school. I got hooked on them right away. I would make him stay up late at night to help me play. L.O.L. I would wake him up just to play the game and help me out of a tuff spot. I would tell him that he wouldn't have to go to school the next day. We would play the games back to back. When we finished them we would start all over again. Now that I am disabled and in a power-chair I find my self looking for all the old games that we had played. To play again. To create new memories with my grandchildren. If you ask me the older games are so much better. Well at least they are to me. haha. I would like to thank Nintendo for making these games, I look forward to buying all my old favorites again. thank you Sandy C.Read full review
To put it bluntly, if you haven't played this game yet, you're not a true gamer. This is one of the key titles of the Super Nintendo which helped to revolutionize the side-scrolling genre. It's simply one of the best. You play as Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong on a quest to save Donkey Kong from the evil K. Rool. You'll be taken through several environments, all of which are unique to this game. Simply put: there hasn't been a game like this since. And this includes the other Donkey Kong Country games which, although just as genius, are not clones of each other. In this game you'll play through pirate ships, volcanic caves, and, well, I don't want to spoil it for you. Needless to say, you'll be entertained from beginning till end. The mechanics work perfectly, the game is challenging where it needs to be, the soundtrack is very memorable and creative...the list goes on. If any game deserves the rating of "excellent," it is this game. It's a classic, and it's a classic for a reason. Pick this game up if you enjoy videogames at all--even if it requires you to buy a SNES (which, by the way, is still one of the greatest game consoles that has and ever will be made). Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a must-have.Read full review
