Hello and thank you for looking at my Ducati 749S
Time has come to part with my beautiful Ducati. I am selling this to part fund a Multistrada. So, here we go:
This is a stunning example of a late model 749s so benefits from the red frame, black swingarm and face lifed fairing design. By far the very best in the 749 range, Ducati got it so right in my opinion. Put it next to an early bike and you will see what I mean. It's fair to say I can be a tad fussy so spent 2 years looking for a good example which ticked all the boxes, this one did and I have continued to look after it during my ownership. These late models are quite rare.
Being the 'S' model it has the extra benefits of
- Marchesini wheels (great condition, see photos)
- Brembo brakes (awesome feel and stopping power)
- Showa nitrate forks, very smooth operation. Never found it upset on UK roads. (fickle but the 'gold' finish on the forks legs compliment the bike superbly too)
- Showa adjustable rear shock
- adjustable foot pegs via various different threaded holes in the frame
- factory steering damper
Again, put it next to the standard bike and the 'S' is worth every penny more. Darn you Ducati you are good at this game.
This is a genuine monoposto single seat model. Not a converted biposto.
It has the FULL termignoni exhaust system on it. I wanted to buy a bike with this already fitted as let someone else spend over a grand on a exhaust system! It sounds fantastic and no bike like this should be without one. I challenge you not to grin as it rumbles on the overrun, it does turn heads. Underneath the back box is engraved 'racing use only' and no I have never had any MOT issues! I do NOT have the standard pipes.
The bike did have a slipper clutch fitted when I bought it but this gave up September 2011 (now a nice paperweight) It now has a standard clutch basket with a red Ducati performance pressure plate and springs (prefer the feel of a standard clutch on a road bike to be honest) I added a 'conservative' Oberon CNC open clutch cover which I think looks fitting, this is a nice quality piece. So many out there look 'tat' Please see photo.
Current tyres fitted are Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 (matching set fitted at the same time) have loads of life. See photo
It has R & G crash bungs on the fairing
It does not have the normal flaking paint on the engine that is common to model. Please see photo. There is however a tiny bit of paint flaking just below the lower headlight. Please see photo. A job for winter that one.
It has the Ducati white number plate board nose sticker, this is a genuine Ducati accessory and is the 'pro chip' type so is the gel type version. This is attached via adhesion so expect you could remove with the right tools and time if its not to your liking.
Last service was at 8699 (27.6.0213) it had its all important cambelt change then, also had a coolant change, fuel filter, oil and filter (15/50 used), new plugs and the fuel tank removed to carry out the 'fuel tank service' this is where the inside of the tank can corrode, this then drops tiny parts of corrosion into the fuel which goes through the filter etc, the tank service basicly cleans the inside of the tank as a general maintance point. This is common to model. Be wary of sellers who look at you with a blank face on this one! It also had the injection relay replaced again a part which is a few quid but can leave you stranded one day. Good practice to have this replaced every couple of years regardless. Lastly it had a fuel set up including throttle body balance. She runs bang on and have to say in top its hard to keep it at a sensible speed as it just purrs without even trying.
I have fitted a tail tidy to smarten up the rear end. This is fitted with a smaller number plate. I have the original plate and mount (included in the sale)
I have the all important red key and code card. All paperwork is uptogether including the V5. The bike is taxed and has a current MOT. She is ready to go!
If you are looking for a near mint example of this model then you will not be dissapointed. I have always looked after it, it has always been garaged and left on an optimate (fly off lead included in sale) I have always kept the bodywork clean and polished. I only use it on nice days. I have always let the temperature come up to 50 degress before riding and never let her stretch her legs until fully warm. If you would like to come and have a look, or any questions please feel free to ask via email.
Sorry but no test rides, Im sure you understand. Let's just say once bitten twice shy. However, this bike has NO faults, everything works exactly as it should and I have every faith in it. I would ride it to Scotland tomorrow without any thought.
Time for standard stuff...
No timewasters, muppets, p#ss takers or tyre kickers. We have all been here. Oh and I know what this bike is worth so no silly offers please.I am in no hurry to sell so can wait until the deal is right.I wont ship to Africa on behalf of a long lost cousin.. I am an enthusiast and treat like minded people with the same respect, if you are serious we will get on just fine over a cup of tea!
I am asking £5999 for it as feel its one of the best out there, I know the amount of dribble out there when I was looking. This is not one of them. I may accept a very near offer but please no silly offers. If you want to spend less buy the lesser model!!
Prefer cash on collection please
