Ducati Monster M620
You are bidding on a used Ducati Monster M620 fuel injection engine. I have owned this bike from new and loved it to bits. However due to not riding it anymore I need to sell it in order to make room in the garage. The clocks currently show 11790 miles but I did have the original clocks changed under warranty at 8216 miles so in total this bike has covered just over 20000 miles.
The bike was bought in 2006 as new and has been pretty reliable since then. It was fitted with terminoni exhausts but these have been sold separately and the standard cans are now fitted. The air box lid has been opened up and there is a power commander 3 fitted. The tail was chopped back in 2006. The bike has benefited from a visit to MC Technic’s Suspension where the springs in the front forks where upgraded for some stiffer ones and the rear shock was replaced with a showa unit with the correct spring for the bike. This created a stiffer bike more suitable for harder riding or for track days. Also as a result of the new shock the seat height is around 2.5cm higher than standard. I have just replaced the battery with a brand new one. The original fork springs and shock will be supplied with the bike in the sale. The engine currently runs well. Everything else is working. The bike does not currently have an MOT or any tax. Included in the sale are the spare black key, red key and the original owner’s manual.
Unfortunately the bike suffered a ‘lowside’ on a very wet track day at Snetterton resulting in some damage to the right hand side. There are some scratches on the right of the tank (see photo’s) but the tank is not dented. This bike has the plastic tank. There are also some scratches on the frame. The bike suffers from the usual ducati flaking paint on the footrests and a little on the engine. The forks are straight. The rear passenger seat cover was damaged beyond repair so cannot be included in the sale. Whilst putting the bike back together again I discovered another problem. The bracket on the frame for the mounting pivot for the tank (between the tank and seat unit) has been bent. I did not discover this until I have finished patching up the bike ready for sale. I have tried to bend the bracket back to the correct position but have a situation where either I cannot get the seat unit to fit properly or the tank will not clip in properly by the ignition key barrel. Without having another M620 to compare with I cannot work out exactly what is wrong, but the main trellis frame does not look bent.
This bike would make an excellent base for a track day bike or race bike because you can get the tank to clip in but you would need to make a race seat unit to fit. Or with some love could be put back on the road if the seat/tank fitting issue could be sorted. Bike is sold as a small project and not a ride away. It could also be used for spares and repairs, but that would be a shame.
