3.  Newmarket, N.H. 1912. This peaceful old photo shows a young man who has just crossed a bridge in his buggy. There are telephone and power lines, some attached to the trees. There is a house and a large stack of wood, perhaps firewood or fence posts. Perhaps a big lot has just been cleared.

These improved reproductions have been or will be custom-made for you new in a photo lab. We have taken great care to preserve the sharpness and old look while removing scratches, spots, and other damage that would make them less viewable. We have added detail views here that will not appear on your photo (see "What are the detail views?" below).

Why buy these photos:  These photos would be good conversation starters in a restaurant, waiting room, lobby, office,  library, or museum in New Hampshire. Decorators use our sepia-tone prints in a variety of ways to make them look old. (see "Tone options" below). They could also be a gift for a history buff or someone who has roots here. They can be resold in a store (see "Wholesale lots" below). Our photos can be used in school reports, presentations, and displays. These are significantly improved versions of the images and must be licensed for use in a publication, production, or other product (see "Licenses" below).

What are the detail views?  These are enlargements of small portions of the photos. They are intended to show you some of the details in the photos and to give you an idea of the image quality. They are not additional prints and they will not appear separately on your photos. The larger the photos you order, the more detail you will see (see "Size options" below). 

Custom processing:  If you request substitutions, we will custom make your items after we receive your payment, usually within 48 hours. This means that you can choose an alternative size combination, tone, finish, or CD (see below). We ship custom-made prints and CDs quickly, usually within 2 or 3 days. If you do not request substitutions, we ship your 5-inch by 7-inch prints the next business day after we receive your payment. So, you must specify substitutions on the same day that you pay.

Size options:  The bid and/or Buy It Now prices shown are for seven standard 5-inch by 7-inch (5x7) prints. However, you can substitute two 8x10s or 8x12s (if available) or one 11x14 or 12x16 or 12x18 (if available) or one CD at no additional charge (see below). Be sure to make your request when you pay.      12x18 is only available for photos that are shown in 8x12.
     11x14 is a standard size. 12x16 and 12x18 are not standard sizes.

Tone options:  Your prints will have a sepia tone as shown unless you request grayscale. Sepia is the color of old photos today, caused by acid in the old paper. Many people prefer the warm sepia tones over cold black and white. Your sepia prints will be on acid-free paper, but it will look old. Grayscale or "black and white" is the way modern prints are often made. Side-by-side examples are shown for comparison on our "About our photos" page in our eBay store.

Finish options:  Your prints will have a luster finish unless you request glossy when you pay. Glossy reflects glare but appears to be a bit sharper. Glossy also shows fingerprints more.

Luster (dull, less glare):  Default finish
     16x20 and larger have a satin finish which is similar to luster.

Glossy (shiny, more glare, looks sharper):  Request when you pay
     Not available in 16x20 nor larger sizes.

Border:  Your prints will have minimum borders. This means that there may be some white edges (less than 1/4 inch wide) outside the images so that you can display the maximum amount of the images in typical devices that hides the edges of the prints.

Quality: We select the highest-quality images we can find and carefully restore and improve them. Old photos do not meet today’s high standards due to the limitations of the materials and methods available in those days, and due to aging and damage. But we improve them as much as we can while preserving an old look. Then we process them using modern archival methods so they can be affordable and last for many years.

CD option:  You can request to substitute a CD instead of print(s). The CD will contain more than one version of most images, including cropped close-ups, that are optimized for digital presentations, and websites. All of the photos and images of the postcards are included. The images will not exceed 1200 pixels in the longest dimension, and thus may not fill the screen when used for high definition displays. If we have additional information about the image, we will include a text file as well. You must request the CD in eBay on the same day that you pay. The CD and images shall not be printed nor reproduced for sale nor distribution.

Packaging:  We ship 5x7, 8x10, and 8x12 prints and CDs flat with a stiff board to prevent folding, in a sturdy envelope. Larger sizes are carefully rolled and shipped in a sturdy mailing tube.

Shipping time:  If you do not request substitutions, your 5x7 prints will ship the next business day after we recieve your payment. You must request substitutions in eBay on the same day that you pay, but your substitutions will then take a day or two longer to ship because they must be custom made. If you purchase additional eBay items to ship together, an extra day or two may also be required. The time required by the postal services to deliver your package depends on shipping method, Customs requirements, weather, holidays, and other factors beyond our control.

Shipping cost:  This item is sold with packaging materials and handling included in the price. Domestic postage is also included. For destinations outside the U.S.A., buyer pays actual postage.

Discounts on additional purchases:  Shipping and handling costs less per item when you buy more items that can ship together in the same package. We pass this savings on to buyers. We will subtract from your invoice before you pay, or refund in PayPal after you pay. Please note that some items can not be shipped together and thus will not qualify for this discount. For example, only small flat items can ship with 5x7s and CDs. Here is how much discount you will get:
