Dylan Moran as always in his shows, strives to explain the unreasonable nature of the world's inhabitants. The hilarious and pessimistic aspect of his explanations don't harm this in the least. As a stand up show, 'What it is' is one of Moran's funniest and also one of his most thoughtfully considered. Whether discussing the compunction of people to construct things to watch them in a vain attempt at purpose, or the trouble Obama faces in being relied on to fix everything alone as 'Super-Jesus.' This may be compounding the content slightly, but Moran definitely proves his own foppish intelligence & wit is still comedy gold after multiple viewings. A few of the topics may be based on outdated events, but they remain relevant. As usual, he tends to generalise on gender roles for a proportion of his jokes which is the only negative aspect of his performance, but they're still laughable and remain inoffensive. After all it comments far more on the perception of the sexes rather than their actual behaviours. Conclusively, if you don't own any of Dylan Moran's other shows, get this one first. It's a hark back to his good material that more than makes up for the 'Yeah Yeah' DVD. Moran at his prime.Read full review
