I am somewhat regrettably selling our absolutely stunning 1998 Elddis Savanna GT 4 / 5 berth touring caravan. The caravan is fitted with a Carva Trauma remote controlled motor mover to the chassis which enables the caravan to be effortlessly positioned exactly where you want it at the touch of a button! The caravan is in beautiful condition, and everything works exactly as it should.
Dimensions etc. of the caravan -
Body length 16' 10" (5.147m)
Total length including 'A' frame - 21' 7" (6.6m)
Int. width 6'8" (2.184m)
Max. Gross Weight (fully laden) - 1250kg (24.6 cwt)
Unladen weight 995kg (19.6 cwt)
Features of the caravan -
I feel the best way to describe the caravans features is to explain the layout.
The 'stable' door is to the rear nearside corner, and on entering the caravan, there is a set of drawer units and a low level cupboard to the right. At the rear of the caravan there is a full width single seating area, with the option to convert it to a single table with seating either side. This area also converts to a single bed with a bunk bed above supported on a sturdy metal frame, which literally takes a minute to erect! This area can be sealed off by means of a sliding partition (ideal for young children). Moving round to the rear offside of the caravan, there is the toilet / bathroom and shower room. The beauty of this arrangment is that the toilet and shower area are opposite, but totally seperate from each other. The cassette toilet with electric flush is emptied from outside. The wash basin is positioned above the toilet, and folds away when not in use. This action also empies the sink contents into the waste water system automatically. There are cupboards and storage areas above the toilet. The shower cubicle is isolated from the toilet by a folding frosted perspex door, and as it isn't a combined toliet / shower as in many caravans, the shower is quite spacious.
Towards the cente of the caravan is a large double wardbrobe with storage below and automatic lighting on opening the doors. The TV aerials and wiring are located in the top of the wardrobe. Below the wardbrobe is a Carver heater which works off the gas supply or mains electric. To the left of the wardrobe is the electrical control panel, which controls the lighting, heating, power supply (i.e battery, or mains, or car battery). there is a small folding shelf in the corner for a TV or radio etc. There are sufficient 240v plug sockets around the caravan, with several TV aerial points.
Moving to the seating area towards the front of the caravan, there are two long seats either side of the caravan, with a drawer unit in the centre at the front of the caravan which has a pull out table top which effectively doubles the table / unit size. The water tank for the hot water supply and the central heating pipework is located under the seating area on the offside. The two long seats convert into either two long single beds or using the pull out ladder rack between the seats, converts into a massive double bed. Whether you prefer to sleep lengthways or sideways this area can easily accomodate three people.
Moving round to the nearside of the van, the kitchen area is situated in the centre of the side of the van. Between the cooker and the seating area is the storage place for the folding table which can be used in the caravan or outside. The cooker has four ring gas burners, a grill and large oven. The burners have a drop down glass top cover when not in use. To the left of the cooker is the sink unit with hot and cold water, which also has a fold away cover when not in use. Below the sink is the fridge freezer, which is either mains (240V), gas or car battery powered. To the left of the sink we are back to the door.
At the front, sides and rear of the caravan is ample overhead storage, and also floor level locker storage under all seating / bed areas, with convenient front access (instead of having to lift up the seating to gain access).
The caravan is double glazed, with the benefit of pulldown fly screens and seperate pull down 'blackout' blinds on all windows and all the skylights. The electric lights are a combination of 240v and 12v, and give a good internal illumination or can be used as background lighting in the evening.
The upholstery is in excellent condition with no tears or damage. The carpets in the caravan are in exceptional condition, having been protected by over mats. There is no damp whatsoever in the caravan, and the floor is absolutely solid.
The main benefit for us with this particular layout is that the sleeping area at the rear of the caravan can be completely sealed off at nightime, isolating any children from the main area of the caravan. Many 4/5 berth caravans have the additional sleeping area at the side of the caravan, which effectively intrudes into the main living area and can disturb young children. Additionally, the rear view vision is greatly improved with the full width rear window!
Externally, the bodywork is in excellent condition, with no areas of damage. There are a couple of very very minor dents on the side, one caused by an awning pole, and the other possibly by a stone from a passing car, but these are genuinely very minor indeed, and are barely noticeable (please see the photographs). There is a very large storage locker at the front of the caravan that houses the gas bottles, and all the paraphanailia that is required. The caravan is fitted with a standard hitch and stabiliser bracket, but I have the Alko hitch that came with the caravan if prefered.
To summarise, this is genuinely a very lovely caravan that has been exceptionally well looked after, and has the benefit of the Carver motor mover. We spent a long time looking for the 'right' caravan, and I'm sure that any future owners will also not be disappointed with it. I have a nearly new full size Isabella awning with carbon fibre quick release poles, in contrasting burgandy and grey that we bought for the caravan; the purchase of this can be negoatiated seperately.
There are two full sets of keys, and all the instruction manuals and literature for all the appliances, together with CRIS documentation. The tyres are relatively new, and in good condition. The caravan has had a recent brake and chassis service, and the battery is only approx. 1 year old.
I apologise for the lengthy description of this caravan, but I feel any prospective purchaser would want to know as much information as possible regarding the caravan prior to bidding.
