This is the first album without makeup and is a great follow up to creatures of the night with rocking tracks like FITS LIKE A GLOVE, GIMME MORE and YOUNG AND WASTED the title track has always been a favourite of mine there is of course the classic paul stanley ballad would recommend for any KISS FAN.
Great songs and a new line up what with the late Eric Carr and vinnie vincent! Vinnie vincent never really fit into the band although a great guitar player just wasent quite right! But this album is very overlooked with such great songs like Lick it up, young and wasted, All hells breakin loose and fits like a glove! This album was the turning point in kiss career and there music changed as did the immage! Once a kiss fan always a kiss fan! Rock on and long live KISS!
This was the first time we saw Kiss unmasked, and dang did they look more badass. With Gene's larger than life posture and the cockyness of the other group members (including the member who was appearing on cover-art for the first time, Vinnie Vincent, who had before been a session musician for "Creatures of the Night") Kiss were looking to bring back their old audiences, as well as lure new fans in. "Lick It Up" is defitnly the best of their unmasked period, with rock classics such as "Lick It Up", "And on the Eight Day" and "Fits Like a Glove" and works from the amazing talents of Vinnie Vincent and Rick Derringer, this is a rip-roaring album. My only fault is that it seems to have a few fillers. Although, I don't think they were intended as fillers...I think Kiss were just losing ideas by now. Never the less, listen to this one a few times over, skip some tracks, and you'll soon find this one a must-have rocker. LimbuzzardRead full review
