Unusual BLUE ODEON label
Have a listen to a track from this unusual pressing:
Roll up, roll up all ye Beatles fans....Ready to be re-released by Disney in the near future as a 3D remake, it's The Beatles' YELLOW SUBMARINE....
This was The Beatles' eleventh official album release and interestingly enough, the first album of theirs to included non-Beatles material. Released, after a delay, in mid January the album made it up the UK charts to the 3rd position....With The Beatles' 'White' album denying it the top slot.
There were only modest sales-in comparison with other Beatles releases-as the sales were around 800,000 within the first three months, but it did go over1 million sales by the end of the year. This could have had something to do with the album having only four original tracks and the rest was George Martin's film score.
So, here's the details of this album up for auction:
Catalogue number: J-062-04.002
Stamped Numbers side 1:
YEX 715 (crossed out) J-062-04.002 A-AUT
Stamped Numbers side 2:
YEX 716 (crossed out) J-062-04.002 B
Just the same matrix numbers as the UK pressing, but no '-' (dash) number at the end.
Mothers & Stampers:
EX! There are only a few very faint marks.
I have just played her all the way through and found there to be only very light background noise.
CERTAINLY without any SKIPPING or Jumping.
Due to side 2 being more instrumental, the light backgound noise is slightly more audible. I think a gentle professional clean will upgrade this even further.
**FLAT AND SHINY AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN**
Lables: EX+. If you'd like to have a lovely example of this really rather rare Spanish BLUE ODEON label...Here it is! Lovely and bright and with only a couple of incredibly light spindle marks, which are only visible when angled to bright light.
NO writing or stickers
WITHOUT THE "BIEM" BOX to the top left of the label..!
GLORIOUSLY blue/turquoise and bright in colour.
1 BOX EMI TOO
Very unusual and quite rare labels here.
Cover: EX. It is the original Spanish cover, with the catalogue number printed in the top left corner to the front.
It does a red line to the back-above the text.
Bio in Spanish.
"Mod. 2823 - Compania del Gramofono-Odeon, S.A.E. -Barcelona"
The spine is lovely and strong and wonderfully legible.
There is a name to the back-which is the ONLY point of detraction for this superbly looked after cover.
Inner: EX. It is the original 'Jelly-fish' plastic inner.
SIMPLY EXCELLENT CONDITION
Certainly done her job in looking after this record!
SO, ALL IN ALL THIS IS A RARE PRESSING, COUPLED WITH THE FACT SHE SOUNDS GREAT-SHE REALLY IS A RECORD TO GET HOLD OF!
