Elddis Force 5 Five Berth Caravan 1992
Spares or Repairs
We have owned this caravan for 4 years now and have used it almost every month in this time. When we got it, it was in absolutely pristine condition as it had been stored inside and only a few miles from where the elderly couple who had owned it from new used to take it to when they used the caravan, so it was very well looked after.
Inside was a clean pink carpet and all the upholstery and cupboards, hob and grill and toilet etc were spotless.
We have used it as a tourer in the first year then for the last three years we have had it on a seasonal pitch in Porthmadog so it has been out in the elements every day. As we have a dog, in the second year we decided to lift up the carpet so that we could put new lino down to keep it all nice and clean. That was when we found the damp!
Where the front table is was absolutely rotten on the floor in a section about a metre square which has come through the front storage locker but my husband has since repaired the floor and it is all sound now as far as we are aware. We put clear duct tape around the storage locker and this has prevented any more water coming through. We think this may have happened as we didn't have the caravan level so when it rained, the water didn't run through the overflow grid that is in the storage compartment. We looked further and discovered that damp had come through on both sides around in a metre in from the front window, so again hubby dug out all the rotten wood and filled it all in then fitted new plywood and they remain dry. The only area that we are aware needs repairing is around the front window where there has been some water damage, and the front window needs replacing/repairing as it has cracked as the photo shows above.
Both taps need replacing as they leak but we have used them with duct tape around them which has been fine for us.
Where we have replaced the ply on the front walls needs decorating with new wallpaper but the rest of the wallpaper is fine.
We have always used the power via the site hook up so I am not sure how much battery storage there is. The hot water tank heats up really well for washing dishes but we have never used the shower. The toilet works well as it is a standard one that flushes and you empty into an Elson point,
The grill and hob are in perfect working order and are clean and the fridge has a small freezer box which keeps everything really cold in the fridge and frozen solid in the freezer.
It has a gas fire, but again we have never used it as we use an electric fan heater so it would need checking before use.
There is an awning with the caravan that has sustained some storm damage so what we have done is on the front left hand side opening that is normally zipped, we have had to use cable ties instead of eyelets to keep it all together but the other side zips up fine so it can be used. All the poles are with it and it goes up easily.
It tows well but we have never had it serviced so it will need a full check.
The lay out of the caravan is at the front are two couches that make up into a massive double bed, then the kitchen on one side and the bathroom on the other and at the end is another seating area that makes up into another double bed, with a bunk bed that can be pulled out over that. This area has a screen/door to be pulled across for privacy. Although it is small and light it is surprisingly roomy and the upholstery is still in very good condition with no tears but will need cleaning as we have had our dog in it.
We have attempted to seal all of the outside seams with caravan sealant to reduce the risk of any more damp coming through, so it does look a little untidy as we are not experts but it appears to have done the job.
Included in the sale are the steps, the cable hook up, a nearly new fresh water aquaroll, waste disposal container, cutlery, dinner service and mugs, wine glasses, awning curtains and other bits and pieces.
All of the original instruction booklets are with it as well.
With a little TLC, you will have a great tourer which weighs only 1200 kg so can be towed with a standard car. We have really enjoyed our time in it and will be sorry to see it go.
I do have more photographs of it and the photos of the outside and the awning above are before we did the repairs so it doesn't look quite as good as those, but it was just to give you an idea of how it looked. The inside photos are mainly of how it is now apart from the one with the carpet which is the third photo along.
Any questions please don't hesitate to ask
The caravan is to be collected from the storage site in Porthmadog only as we don't have a car with a tow bar these days so don't bring it back home but we would meet you there to give you both sets of keys.
