This auction is for a bronze medallion / medal awarded by The Royal Life Saving Society in 1925.
This medal / medallion was awarded to people who successfully passed an examination in life saving skills .
The Medal / Medallion is engraved with the date of March 1925 and the name C SHACKLETON ..
The Royal Life Saving Society UK have advised me that the ‘C’ stands for Cecily and her name was amongst the candidates entered from The Bath Club in London.. ( their correspondence will be given to the winning bidder.).
Ernest Shackleton the great explorer had a daughter named Cecily .. could this be her medallion / medal .. probably. Just needs a little bit more research.. The medal / medallion has a diameter of approx 29mm.. its metal .. I am not sure if its made from bronze despite being a ‘bronze’ medal.
