'Exclusion Zone'  by John NICHOL. Published in hardback by Hodder Headline Publishing Limited, please note that this book is a 1998 first edition (first impression) book which is in excellent (virtually mint) condition and not price-clipped at all. The Falklands, 1999 - a vital strategic stronghold and a prize gem in the oil-rick South Atlantic. A remote, isolated colony relying on a limited British task force to defend it from Argentina's pledge to regain control by the year 2000. For RAF pilot Sean Riever it is a place of ghosts. For Jane Clark, the only female in the squadron, it's a place of tough decisions.

An air of menace hangs over the desolate, battle-scarred landscape; present dangers and past mysteries lurk in the shadows on the skyline. And Sean's compulsion to live up to a legendary hero leads him towards a woman whose loneliness matches his own.

Then a Royal Navy nuclear submarine disappears, and Argentine jet fighters penetrate the Exclusion Zone. Too late, he realises the significance of a veiled warning: the invasion has already begun.

As Sean and his companions stave off wave after wave of enemy attacks, their fight to protect the islands becomes an epic battle for survival - in which victory can be achieved only at a terrible price ...

Gulf War hero John Nichol's new novel is a tour de force - a high octane adventure thriller and a haunting love story played out against and elemental conflict.

'Fresh and compelling ... as good as anything written by Jeffrey Archer or Dick Francis' - Daily Mail

This 1998 first edition (first impression) book is fully illustrated and runs to 341 pages. This book is in excellent (virtually mint) condition and a fascinating read. Please note that the shipping costs for UK buyers ONLY are £3.75p GBP by Royal Mail 2nd Class services (in addition to actual sale price).

The author: During fifteen years service in the RAF:John NICHOL flew Tornadoes in both Air Defence and Ground Attack capacities. On active duty in the Gulf he was shot down with his pilot John Peters in the first low level daylight raid of the Gulf War. Captured and tortured, he was paraded on television provoking world wide condemnation of the Iraqis and leaving one of the enduring images of the conflict. He returned to active duty and was involved in policing the exclusion zone as part of the UN force maintaining the fragile peace in Bosnia and participated in many exercises across the world including Exercise Red Flag in the Nevada desert - one of the largest multi-national military exercises ever undertaken. John Nichol is the bestselling co-author of Tornado Down and Team Tornado, both co-written with John Peters, and two previous novels Point of Impact and Vanishing Point. He has written for The Sunday Times, the Mail on Sunday, The Times, the Guardian and the Sun and is a widely quoted commentator on military affairs. He has also been a consultant and presenter for Newsnight, World in Action and Cutting Edge.
