Condition: Excellent - Very good - Good - Fair. Light overall age toning of paper.
Overall dimensions of print: Including blank margins: 11 x 16 1/2 inches. 1 inch = 2,54 cm.
Type of paper: Thick - Heavier, wove - Medium heavy - Slightly heavier - Thin.
Reverse side: Blank - With text or pictures
Notes: 1. Green 'border' around the print (bottom photo) is a contrasting background on which the print was photographed, it is not part of the print.

From the original description:
STRASBOURG is one of the most ancient cities of Europe; it existed long time prior to the Roman Conquest, and was called Argentoratum.  The inhabitants of the surrounding district were called Dreybucher, and on the spot where the cathedral now stands worshipped their deity Kruzmanna, the Hercules of the Germans. In the year 849, St. Amand, bishop of the Dreybucher, founded a Christian church on the site of the pagan temple.  This church was burnt down by the Huns under Attila; it was rebuilt by Clovis, and was again destroyed in the year 1002.  The resent cathedral, which is the object most worthy of notice at Strasbourg, was founded bybishop Werinhaire, in the year 1015.  It advanced with varied progress till the year 1275, when the body of the cathedral was completed.  In 1277, the foundation of the great tower was laid, and in the year 1489 was finished, fro;n the original design of: its architect, Ervin of Steinbach.  It is supposed that: the order of freemasons first took its rise at this period. The master architects in various parts of Germany formed themselves into associations, whichthey called Hutten, (lodges).   All of them acknowledged the supremacy of the Haupte Hutte, or metropolitan lodge of Strasbourg. We find the foundation of these lodges confirmed by a diploma, granted by the emperor Maximilian I. and dated Strasbourg, 1498.
